On April 10, 2025, at 1547 hours dispatch requested that I respond to a hit and run collision that occurred at
743 Rainier Ave S, in the city of Renton, county of King, and State of Washington.
Prior to my arrival Officer Leverton confirmed that the collision occurred at the intersection of SW 7th St and
Hardie Ave SW. Once I arrived,the driver of Unit 2, identified as Jose R. Diaz-Melgoza, explained he was facing
eastbound on SW 7th St and was the first vehicle at the intersection. When the traffic signal changed from red
to green, Unit 1 overtook him on the left and made an improper right turn in front of his vehicle. In doing so,
Unit 1 sideswiped his driver's side front fender.The damage was minor, but Unit 1 fled southbound on Hardie
Ave SW and onto Rainier Ave S.
Jose was unable to see the driver but captured a photograph of Unit 1's license plate. Unit 1 was identified as
a Ford Escape bearing Oregon plates 545KXZ.The registered owner was identified as Tracy J. Dowell who lives
in Newport Oregon.
Unit 2 is a Nissan Sentra bearing Georgia plates CHF2705.
Jose asked that I document the incident for insurance purposes only. Unit 1 is suspected to have damage on
the passenger side doors.
