On June 20, 2024, at 1431 hours I responded as a backing officer to a Hit and Run collision involving a stolen
vehicle at the intersection of NE 9th St and Edmonds Ave NE, in the city of Renton, County of King, and State of
Washington.
Upon my arrival Officer Cummings explained that he was recontacting the owner of a stolen 2017 Hyundai
Elantra (WA/CLX8406). Officer Cummings told me he had had located the vehicle earlier in the day. He
explained the following:
The owner of the stolen vehicle is Ronaldo De Leon Perez. When they arrived,they found that the vehicle was
no longer where Officer Cummings had located it. Ronaldo drove around the area and near the 900 block of
Edmonds Ave NE, he recognized his vehicle. His vehicle was facing north and on the eastside of the roadway.
The driver appeared to be a 17-19-year-old Hispanic male with lighter skin tone and black hair.Around the
same time another Hispanic male entered the passenger seat.The passenger was seen exiting 915 Edmonds
Ave NE. Ronaldo tried blocking the vehicle from the front, but the suspect driver of his stolen vehicle reversed
and accelerated away.They passed a vehicle on the sidewalk and then crashed into a black 2011 Nissan 370Z
(WA/CDH6106) driven by the registered owner Fernando Tellez Martinez (DOB 06/09/1991). The airbags
inside of Tellez Martinez's vehicle went off and there was significant damage to the vehicle's passenger side
and rear passenger side tire.
Ronaldo's stolen vehicle was last seen going westbound on NE 9th St from Edmonds Ave NE.
I spoke with the driver of the Nissan 370Z. Fernando said he was facing westbound on NE 9th St and Edmonds
Ave NE. He intended to continue westbound through the intersection. While proceeding forward, he was
struck by a Hyundai Elantra. His vehicle sustained severe damage to the passenger fender, wheel, and his
airbags also deployed.
Fernando stated he did not sustain any injuries, but Renton Fire was still requested as a precaution.
Officer Cummings and I contacted the family that lives at 915 Edmonds Ave NE. One of the children told us
that one of his friends had just left the house. The friend was identified as "Andres" and he was described as a
16-18 year old male who was possibly Guatemalan or Honduran. According to the family, "Andres" used to
attend Renton High School but no longer does.
This incident occurred in the sCity of Renton,King County,Washington State.

From the information above, I believe "Andres"was the passenger of the stolen vehicle.
Fernando told me that his vehicle is not insured and requested that I wait while he contacts a friend with a
tow truck.
Later, his friend arrived and removed the vehicle from the location.
I provided Fernando with my case number.
Refer to Officer Cummings report for more information regarding the stolen vehicle recovery and
circumstances regarding the collision.
