COLLI
NARRATIVE
On 03/21/2025, 1 was working uniformed patrol in a marked police car as 3R23. At approximately
2131 hours, I was dispatched to a blocking accident at Sunset Blvd NE at the 1-405N on-ramp which
is located within the city limits of Renton, County of King, Washington. Dispatch advised that an
involved party called reporting a "t-bone" collision at the intersection. The caller mentioned that there
were no injuries but were blocking.
I arrived at the call location and was able to locate the accident. I saw that both vehicles were
blocking the southwestbound lanes of travel of Sunset Blvd NE from the NB 1405 on-ramp. I also saw
that the occupants in each involved vehicle were out of their vehicles. I identified each unit and their
drivers and passengers as listed above respectively.
I went to speak to the driver of Unit 1. He was accompanied by another juvenile passenger in the rear
passenger side seat. My conversation with him is summarized as follows:
Unit 1 explained that he was traveling northeastbound on Sunset Blvd NE approaching the
northbound 1-405N on-ramp. Unit 1 continued to proceed onto the on-ramp. Unit 2 was headed
southwestbound on Sunset Blvd NE at the same time as Unit 1 was attempting to cross the
southbound lanes of Sunset Blvd NE to continue on the on-ramp. This resulted in the front end of Unit
2 to collide with the front passenger side of Unit 1.
Unit 1 stated that he was wearing his seatbelt. Unit 1 stated that he was also uninjured.
Unit 1's rear passenger side passenger was also wearing her seat belt in a booster seat. Unit 1's rear
passenger complained of some neck pain and was in tears. I called for the fire department to
evaluate her at the location.
I took a look around Unit 1 and saw that the passenger side of the vehicle was significantly dented. I
also noticed that a combination of airbags had been deployed inside the vehicle.
I was then able to speak to the driver of Unit 2. She was accompanied by another passenger sitting in
the front seat. My conversation with her is summarized as follows:
Unit 2 stated she was heading southwestbound on Sunset Blvd NE approaching the northbound I-
405N on-ramp. She stated that Unit 1 had entered the intersection without looking as she was
continuing straight down Sunset Blvd NE. This resulted in the front end of Unit 2 colliding with the
passenger side of Unit 1.
Unit 2 stated that she was wearing her seatbelt. Unit 2 also stated she was uninjured.
Unit 2's front-seat passenger also stated she was wearing her seatbelt. She also stated she was
uninjured.
I took a look around Unit 2 and saw that the entire front end of the vehicle was significantly dented. I
also saw that a combination of airbags inside the vehicle had been deployed.
It should be noted that at the time of the collision, the conditions around the area were dark, slick, and
cold. There is also a large yield sign that indicates any vehicles attempting to head onto the NB 1405
on-ramp from northeastbound Sunset Blvd NE to yield to southwestbound traffic before crossing the
intersection.
Based on the fact that Unit 1 did not grant right of way to Unit 2 before entering the intersection to

continue onto the northbound 1-405N on-ramp and the fact that Unit 1 was required to yield to
opposing traffic as indicated by the yield sign at the location, I found that there is reasonable cause to
cite the driver of Unit 1 for RCW 46.61.190 -Failure to yield at yield sign/intersection.
SECTOR citation 5A0115107 was completed and sent to the prosecuting attorney's office to mail to
the driver of Unit 1. 1 also completed a SECTOR collision for this incident.
Unit 1 and Unit 2 were towed by Bankers from the location.
Unit 1 and his passenger left with a friend in a separate vehicle from the scene of the collision.
Unit 2 and her passenger left with family in a separate vehicle from the scene of the collision.
Based on the circumstances described above, it appears that Unit 1 is the proximate cause of the
collision.
This concludes my report.
I certify (declare) under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that the
foregoing is true and correct.
