The Market is a seasonal open-air market in Downtown Renton that serves as a community gathering space and offers Washington grown produce and locally made goods to support local agriculture and small businesses. The Market would be in the Center Downtown (CD) zone and have approximately seventy (70) vendors lining both sides of Williams Ave S. On the northern street segment, up to four (4) food trucks would line the western side of the street or be in the private parking lot at 201 Williams Ave S. In addition to wares and food, the market would provide entertainment (live music), activities, and educational resources. The Market would take place every Tuesday from June 3rd through September 30th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with vendor setup beginning at noon and clean-up ending by 8:30 p.m. Operation of the Market would require the street closure of Williams Ave S between S 3rd St and S 2nd St. For those driving to the Market, attendees are encouraged to park at the City Center Parking Garage located at 655 S 2nd St (APN 5696000080), which is one (1) block away from the proposed market location. The city has authorized up to ten (10) hours of free parking through December 2025 during operating hours (Sunday to Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.). No permanent alterations are proposed to 201 Williams Ave S or the public ROW. The applicant submitted a traffic control plan with the application (Attachment B). The Temporary Use Permit is hereby Approved with Conditions* . *CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL: 1. Each individual mobile food truck shall obtain a City of Renton Business License prior to operation. 2. Each individual mobile food truck shall obtain an annual Mobile Food Facility Permit from the Renton Fire Authority and pass an inspection prior to providing services. 3. King County Public Health Department Approval(s) shall be obtained prior to operation of the Renton Farmer’s Market. 4. The mobile food trucks shall be limited to the spaces specified in the Market Vendor Map (Attachment A), unless otherwise approved in writing by the Current Planning Project Manager. 5. The Renton Farmer’s Market shall be limited to the hours of 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with vendor setup beginning at noon and clean-up ending by 8:30 p.m., unless otherwise approved in writing by the Current Planning Project Manager. 6. With the exception of traffic control, the site occupied by the temporary use shall be left free of all debris, litter, or all other evidence of the Renton Farmer’s Market outside the approved hours of operation. 7. The site occupied by the Renton Farmer’s Market shall be restored to the original condition when the use ceases to exist. The approval body may modify his decision if material evidence not readily discoverable prior to the original decision is found or if he finds there was misrepresentation or fact. After review of the Reconsideration request, if the approval body finds sufficient evidence to amend the original decision, there will be no further extension of the appeal period. Any person wishing to take further action must file a formal appeal within the 14-day appeal time frame. APPEALS: Appeals of permit issuance must be filed in writing on or before 5:00 p.m. on May 21, 2025. Appeals must be submitted electronically to the City Clerk at cityclerk@rentonwa.gov or delivered to City Hall 1st floor Lobby Hub Monday through Friday. The appeal submitted in person may be paid on the first floor in our Finance Department. Appeals to the Hearing Examiner are governed by RMC 4-8-110 and additional information regarding the appeal process may be obtained from the City Clerk’s Office, cityclerk@rentonwa.gov. EXPIRATION: A Temporary Use Permit is valid for up to one (1) year from the effective date of the permit, unless the Community & Economic Development Administrator or designee establishes a shorter time frame or an applicant can request that a permit be valid beyond the one year expiration, for up to five years at the time of application or prior to permit expiration. EXTENSIONS: Extension requests do not require additional fees and shall be requested in writing prior to permit expiration to the Department of Community & Economic Development Administrator.
