DLState DLExp Address Primary Phone&Type AdditionalContact Number&Type AdditionalContact Number&Type Race Sex DOB- Height Weight Eyes Hair Collision 2025-00004048 Paqe 2 OF 4 Case Number 2025-00004048 Officer Narrative Narrative On 5/7/2025, at 0358, 1 responded for an Accident Hit and Run which occurred in the parking lot of the Albertsons located at 4621 NE Sunset Boulevard in the City of Renton, King County, Washington State. Call notes stated that the reporting party had been struck by a vehicle that subsequently left the area. I arrived and made contact with the reporting party, Maliah M. Carter, (DOB 9/7/1983),who made the following statement: Maliah had just parked her vehicle, a black minivan bearing WA license CPX7728, and was walking around the driver's side.A blue Honda Accord bearing WA temporary license A8291096 began to pull into the parking spot next to her.This vehicle's passenger-side rear-view mirror struck Maliah.Though the vehicle was moving at a low speed, it was very close to Maliah's vehicle. It continued to move slowly forward, pinning Maliah between her van and the Honda. Maliah called out, "you're hitting me!" and the vehicle stopped, backed up, and drove forward again, once more striking Maliah at a low speed. Maliah confronted the driver, a grey-haired white female approximately 60-70 years old, about her driving.The driver stated, "I didn't know you were that big."The driver did not provide contact information or insurance when requested. Maliah told her she was going to call the police and she left the area. Maliah stated that she was experiencing pain in her hip and was planning to go to the hospital to have it examined. I noted that as Maliah gave me her account that she began to cry. During our interaction she appeared to be genuinely experiencing a mild pain in her hip. Noting that Maliah had declined medical aid, I nevertheless asked her to visit the hospital and contact me by email with the results. Maliah's daughter,Telia S. Brooms (DOB 8/24/2000),was also present. Her statement was consistent with Maliah's.Telia photographed the driver and her license plate. I sent Telia a link to upload these photos via Axon Capture. Computer inquiry revealed the blue Honda Accord was registered to a Wendy J. Wright (DOB 1/6/1953) or Renton, Washington. I located a local record of Wendy with a phone number listed. I called and the phone was answered by a woman who identified herself as Wendy. I identified myself and explained the purpose of my call. Wendy immediately said, "that's a bunch of bull." This incident occurred in the sCity of Renton,King County,Washington State. declare underpenalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that the foregoing is true and correct. Wendy stated that she understood her rights and made the following statement: Wendy arrived at the Albertsons and attempted to park her car. She could not because the vehicle next to her spot, an occupied van, had its driver-side door open. Wendy waited for the driver to get out of her vehicle and close her door. When she did so,Wendy began very slowly pulling into the parking spot.This angered the driver,who claimed Wendy hit her. Wendy states that she did not hit this person. I asked Wendy if she saw her rear-view mirror hit the driver. She said, "no." I asked her if it was possible that her mirror hit this person and she did not see it, she also said, "no." I asked if this person cried out in pain or was pinned between the vehicles at any point. Wendy said, "no." I asked if it was possible that any part of her vehicle that Wendy could not see struck this person, and Wendy said, "I guess it's possible." Wendy was insistent that she was driving very slowly and that she believed that it was incredibly unlikely that this person was struck or injured. Due to these conflicting accounts, I will wait to make a determination of probable cause following Maliah's hospital visit. My involvement in this incident was captured on my body-worn camera.
