EF89249 CASE# 25-3646 OF COLLISION 04/24/25 07:41 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE CC 25-3646 On 4/24/2025 at 0742 hours I was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of SW Sunset Blvd and Oakesdale Ave SW in the City of Renton, King County, Washington. Pre-Collision Driver 2 stated that he was stopped facing East in the #2 lane of Oakesdale Ave SW preparing to make a lefthand turn to proceed North on Oakesdale Ave SW. Driver 1 stated that she was traveling Eastbound on the #2 lane of SW Sunset Blvd approaching the intersection of Oakesdale Ave SW. Collision Driver 2 stated that he had been stopped for a while waiting for traffic to clear so that he could perform his lefthand turn. Driver 2 stated that while stopped, Unit 1 came from behind his vehicle in the #2 lane and then changed into the oncoming lanes into the #2 lane of Westbound traffic on SW Sunset Blvd. Driver 2 stated that the front passenger side wheel and bumper of Unit 1 struck the front drivers side bumper of Unit 2. Driver 1 stated that as she approached the intersection, Unit 2 was a substantial distance from the area in which a lefthand turn would be performed, placing the collision further West of the intersection. This however, was refuted by the fact that there were skid marks at the intersection where the point of impact was located. Driver 1 went on to explain that Unit 2 stopped suddenly and she swerved to avoid Unit 2 by maneuvering Unit 1 into the oncoming #2 lane of Westbound Oakesdale Ave SW. Driver 1 stated that when reentering traffic, the front passenger side wheel and bumper of Unit 1 collided with the front drivers side bumper of Unit 2. Injuries Driver 1 complained of head and neck pain and was transported via Tri-Med. Driver 2 complained of back pain and refused medical transport. Driver 2 was picked up by a friend. Vehicle Disposition Both Unit 1 and 2 were rendered inoperable and towed from the scene by Gene Meyers. Proximate Cause I determined that Driver 1 is at proximate cause for this collision because a driver of a vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed of such vehicles and the traffic upon and the condition of the highway. Had Driver 1 been following at a reasonable distance as to give herself time to brake, this collision would not have happened. Driver 1 was cited per RCW 46.61.145. Driver 1 was unable to provide me with valid insurance. Driver 1 was cited per RCW 46.30.020. Upon a check of DOL, Driver 1's driving status showed "DRIVER LICENSE NON-COMMERCIAL CLASS: Suspended/Revoked 3rd Degree". The suspension showed that it began on 11/25/2020 and ends on 07/17/2030. Driver 1 provided me with and ID card and a restricted drivers license, however the restricted license was not present of her DOL return. I determined that Driver 1 did commit the crime of Driving while license suspended or revoked in the 3rd Degree because it is unlawful for any person to drive a motor vehicle in this state while that person is in a suspended or revoked status or when his or her privilege to drive is suspended or revoked in this or any other state. I informed Driver 1 that her license was suspended. Driver 1 was cited per RCW 46.20.342. 1 certify (declare) under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that the foregoing is true and correct.
