NARRATIVE
CC 25-3777
On 4/29/2025 at 0823 hours I was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at around the 1800 block of
S Puget Dr in the City of Renton, King County, Washington.
Pre-Collision
Driver 2 stated that she was stopped for traffic facing West in the #1 lane of S Puget Dr at around the
1800 block.
Driver 1 stated that he was traveling West on S Puget Dr in the #1 lane coming down the hill towards
the 1800 block.
Collision
Driver 2 stated she saw Unit 1 behind her and then saw that Unit 1 was unable to stop. Driver 2
stated that Unit 1 then left the roadway on the North side of the road and up an embankment. Unit 1
then slid down the embankment and came to a rest on its drivers side with the roof of Unit 1 colliding
with the front passenger side wheel and quarter panel of Unit 2.
Driver 1 stated that he was traveling West on S Puget Dr and was unable to stop Unit 1. Driver 1 said
that he left the roadway to avoid a collision by maneuvering Unit 1 to the North side of S Puget Dr at
around the 1800 block. Driver 1 stated that once he was off of the roadway and up the embankment,
Unit 1 slid and came to a rest on its driver side doors with the roof of Unit 1 colliding with the front
passenger side of Unit 2.
Witness 1 corroborated what Drivers 1 and 2 stated. Witness 1 was positioned next to Unit 2 in the #2
lane of Westbound S Puget Dr and saw that Unit 1 appeared to swerve to avoid a collision and went
up the embankment.
Of note, the conditions of the roadway were wet and it was actively raining at the time of the collision.
Injuries
Neither driver reported injuries
Vehicle Disposition
Unit 1 was towed from the scene and Unit 2 was able to be driven from the scene.
Proximate Cause
I determined that Driver 1 is the proximate cause of this collision because he was driving at a speed
greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard to the actual and
potential hazards then existing. In every event speed shall be so controlled as may be necessary to
avoid colliding with any person, vehicle or other conveyance on or entering the highway in
compliance with legal requirements and the duty of all persons to use due care.
Driver 1 was cited per RCW 46.61.400.
