Narrative: CO 23 and CO 24 added illumination modifications to eight street lights and one street light foundation. No working days were included in those change orders because the Contractor anticipated a quick turn around on the required welding modifications. On 2/7/23 the Contractor requested an additional 12 working days due to fabrication delays at the welder's shop, for the CO 23 and CO 24 work. On 2/8/23 the proposal for added working days was discussed and the Contractor's updated schedule showed the need for 15 added working days to allow for the remaining landscaping to be completed after the street light modification work and to allow for pavement patches to be performed later in the Spring with better weather, followed by thermoplastic. An adjustment of an additional 15 working days was agreed to. Engineer's Estimate This is a no-cost change order. Equitable adjustments were addressed in CO No 23 and CO No 24. Engineer's Calculation of Additional Working Days The estimated amount of working days to install eight street lights, one street light foundation modification, complete the landscaping after the electrical, perform remaining pavement patching out of sequence due to temperature and weather conditions and complete the thermoplastic work following the pavement patches is estimated to be 15 working days, based on the Contractor's original schedule. The original schedules shows 15 working days for the illumination work in Work Zone D, approximately half has been completed for a total of 7 working days remaining.... plus 8 days for plastic markings per the contractor's original schedule, for a total of 15 added working days. f. Reason for Change: As required in Change Order No 23 and No 24-The Contractor is modifying eight street lights and one street light foundation. The street light and foundation modification work is subject to fabrication delays at the welding shop that were not anticipated when the Change Orders were approved. The Contractor's original schedule showed modified street lights and foundation in tandem with other critical path work.The fabrication delay pushes this work out in time such that it becomes critical path work. An additional 8 working days are needed to complete the street light modifications and foundation modification. The delay in completion of the street light modification work pushes the completion of landscape work out in time so that it becomes critical path work. The completion of the landscape work,following street light modifications,adds 3 working days. There is a delay in the completion of the paving patch work due to wet conditions and cold temperatures. The paving patch work had been shown to be completed in tandem with other critical path work, in the Contractor's original schedule.
