During this incident, I was wearing an Axon body worn camera, and the incident was recorded on video with
audio. Refer to this video for any exact quotations or for an exact sequence of events. The following is a
summary of the events:
On 05/12/2025 at approximately 1824 hours, I was dispatched to non-injury collision that occurred at SW
Sunset Blvd and Stevens Ave SW, within the city of Renton, King County, state of Washington. Upon arrival, I
observed Vehicle 1 with minor front end damage and Vehicle 2 with moderate front left damage. There was no
airbag deployment. Driver 1 and Driver 2 both advised that they were not injured.
I proceeded to interview Driver 1. In summary, Driver 1 was driving northbound on Stevens Ave SW,
approached the intersection at SW Sunset Blvd, and turned left(westbound)onto SW Sunset Blvd. Driver 1
admitted to turning left as Vehicle 2 was approaching the intersection. However, Driver 1 claimed that he had
cleared the intersection, but Vehicle 2 rapidly increased its speed through the intersection which contributed to
the collision. I advised Driver 1 that he was required to yield. Driver 1 advised that he did not have insurance for
the vehicle.
I interviewed Driver 2. In summary, Driver 2 was driving southbound on Stevens Ave SW, approached the
intersection at SW Sunset Blvd, confirmed that he had the green signal, and continued driving southbound
through the intersection. Driver 2 stated that Vehicle 1 then turned left (westbound) in the intersection and
collided with him. Driver 2 provided all of the necessary documents.
I exchanged information for all parties. I issued Driver 1: Infraction#5A0506768 for RCW 46.30.020 -
OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT INSURANCE via mail. This ends my involvement on today's date.
