Public Comment Opposing May Creek South Trail Project (LUA25-000091)
Date: May 12, 2025
Subject:
Dear Ms. Perry,
I am writing to formally oppose the proposed May Creek South Trail project (LUA25-000091) and
the associated Optional Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) issued by the City of Renton.
This project would have a direct and negative impact on my quality of life and property, as it is
planned directly behind my home. I have serious concerns about increased foot traffic, noise,
reduced privacy, potential safety risks, and long-term environmental consequences if this trail is
developed so close to an existing residential area.
While the intention to enhance public access to natural areas is appreciated, the location and
scale of this proposal raise environmental and community concerns. The site includes delineated
wetlands and is part of the 100-year floodplain. Disrupting this area to construct trails,
boardwalks, and a bridge could have long-term consequences for local wildlife, water quality, and
natural flood management.
The site currently functions as an important vegetated buffer and ecological resource. Developing
this area for public use would permanently alter its character and ecological value and
neighborhood impacts.
Given these concerns, I respectfully urge the City of Renton to Reevaluate the project’s location
and scope, especially considering its proximity to existing homes and environmentally sensitive
land.
Please consider this letter as part of the official public comment record. I request to be kept
informed of any updates or decisions regarding this project.
Sincerely,
Spektor Roman
