On 05/17/2025 at 1807 hours I was on routine patrol in the 1500 block of Benson Dr S, in the City of Renton,
King County, Washington. While on patrol, I observed a recent two vehicle motor vehicle accident in the
northbound lane of travel,just south of S 15th St.This incident was captured on my body worn video
camera.This report is a summation of events that occurred and is not an exact sequence of events.
I identified Unit 1 as a 1997 Jeep Wrangler(WA LIC#CED2337) being driver by the registered owner of the
vehicle, identified by his WA DL as Joseph J Barczak(DOB 03/28/1990).
Unit 1 driver told me he was not injured. I asked Unit 1 driver what happened, he stated that he was traveling
northbound on Benson Dr S when the vehicle in front of him (Unit 2) came to an abrupt stop. Unit 1 driver said
that one he observed Unit 2 come to a stop, he applied his brake but was unable to stop prior to colliding with
the rear end of Unit 2 vehicle.
I did not observe any damage to Unit 1 vehicle.
Unit 1 driver provided me with his WADL, registration and proof of insurance.
I identified Unit 2 as a 2025 Tesla Model Y(WA LIC#CPV4938) being driven by the daughter of the registered
owner, identified via her WA DL as Ngoc K Nguyen (DOB 09/27/2006).
Unit 2 driver told me they were uninjured. I asked Unit 2 driver what happened, she stated that she was
traveling northbound on Benson Dr S when she stopped for a red light at the intersection of Benson Dr S/S 15
th St. Unit 2 driver said that upon stopping, Unit 1 vehicle collided with her vehicle from behind.
Unit 2 driver provided me with her WADL, and proof of insurance.
I observed substantial damage to back end of Unit 2 vehicle.
All observed damage to both Unit 1 and Unit 2 vehicles were consistent with the version of events provided by
each involved.
This incident occurred in the sCity of Renton,King County,Washington State.

Photographs of both involved vehicles were taken at the scene and later uploaded to Axon Evidence.
I provided each involved unit with a business card, case number and answered their remaining questions.
I then cleared the scene.
