Based on review of the checklist associated with this project, the Department of Ecology (Ecology) has the following comments: Section B, Environmental Elements; Subsection 7, Environmental Health. The proposed project is located on a site listed on the Model Toxics Control Act Confirmed and Suspected Contaminated Sites List – Boeing Renton facility (cleanup site ID 820, facility site ID 2097). The proposed project area is located within Area of Concern 1 and 2, where chlorinated solvents were detected in groundwater. This section of the checklist should note the presence of the contaminated site. It appears that soil excavation is not included in the scope, so the chlorinated solvent is not likely to be exposed to construction workers. However, if there is any change in scope that may result in exposure to contaminated soil and groundwater, please contact Ecology for appropriate actions. Thank you for considering these comments from Ecology. If you have any questions or would like to respond to these comments, please contact Jing Song from the Toxics Cleanup Program at (425) 229-2565 or by email at jing.song@ecy.wa.gov.
