HomeMy WebLinkAbout22r CITY OF RENTON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT NEIGHBORHOODS, AND STRATEGIC PLANNING MEMORANDUM DATE: November 6, 2001 TO: Mayor Tanner FROM: Sue Carlson_ EDNSP SUBJECT: Fry Electronics Mitigation Fee Waiver i Attached is a fax from Matt Alexander who is representing Fry Electronics, listing the discussion I points for tomorrow's conference call. I have also attached the correspondence that I have sent to Mr. Alexander on this issue. There are a few- things that I'd like to point out_ As you can see from the letter that I send to Mr. Alexander on July 188'I have discussed taking to he City Council the follow ing: Traffic Mitigation Fees - S90,633 Fire Mitigation - S78,624 Water and Sewer Development Charges - S70.1 1 I Off—si:e transportation improvements - S18.000 - S25.000 Total SS264369 I have not discussed building permit fees and I have never guaranteed that these fees would be waived, only that we would take it to the Council for discussion. As we have discussed previously I told him that the City would not consider waiving all fees on their surplus land because .ve would have no idea at this time what the costs would be or what revenue the use would produce_ I thought we might consider waiving future mitigation fees for a retail development of a certain size for a limited period of time because we have a good idea of what the mitigation fees would be for a retail use and we can also calculate what the benefit to the City would be. -- [Click I — and Hoe Harrel
