To protect materials and equipment it is recommended that all materials and tools be locked up when not in use. The site will need security lighting and any construction trailer should be completely fenced in with portable chain -link fencing. The fence will provide both a physical and psychological barrier to any prospective thief and will demonstrate that this area is private property. Construction trailers should be kept locked when not in use, and should also have a heavy-duty deadbolt installed with no less then a 1-1/2" throw when bolted. Glass w indow•s in the trailer should be shatter -resistant. I also recommend the business post the appropriate "No Trespassing" signs on the property while it's under construction (flier attached). This will aid police in making arrests on the property after hours if suspects are observed vandalizing or stealing building materials. COMPLETED BUILDING It's important to direct any and all traffic into the main front entrance and should be monitored during all hours of business. This will provide the building the control it will need to keep track of the comings and goings of all visitors. The main building and any offices should have an alarm system installed to be in effect after business hours. This would include any loading docks. Clue to the type of product that will be stored at this facility (electronic equipment) the probability for burglary is high. Landscaping around the exterior of the building should not be too dense or high_ It is important to allow visibility. Too much landscaping will give the building the look ofa fortress and possibly give a burglary sufficient coverage to break into the facility, especially during the hours of darkness. Page 1 of I
