The on -site fill is suitable for use as structural fill provided it can be properly moisture conditioned and compacted. The existing asphaltic concrete is not suitable for use as structural fill. 43 SEISMIC DESIGN CRITERIA In accordance with Section 1636 of the 1997 Uniform Building Code, the following seismic design criteria should be used for structural fill: Site Profile: Sd (stiff soil profile) Seismic Zone: 3; Z = 0.30 Seismic Source Type: A Seismic Coefficient Ca: 0.36 Seismic Coefficient Cv: 0.54 4.4 AUGER -CAST PILE FOUNDATION Auger -cast pile fc-undations should be designed using the following criteria • Pile Types and Diameters 16-, 18-, or 20-inch-diameter auger -cast • Bearing L. _ - Post -Glacial Alluvial Sand or Glacial Silt • Safety Factors The allowable down%and pile capacities include safety factors of about 3 for end bearing and 1.5 for side friction, with an overall safety factor of at least 2.0. The allowable uplift capacities include a safety factor of about 2.0. • Auger -Cast Pile Design Criteria Diameter (inches) Allowable Downward Capacity s Allowable Uplift Capacity s Recommended Penetration into Bearing Layer s 16 80 50 15 -- 1% 105 55 15 20 120 60 15 Pag, 5 6021 W 1 601 1 "57 Copyngh, 2000 1CI—C.14— L-
