The exposed footing subgrade should be protected from softening by placement of crushed rock or a lean mix material. Footing trains: These drains should be installed s fter construction of the building footings and immediately before baci filling against buKding stem walls. Basemenr or Retaining Wall Drains: These drains should be installed immediately before backfilling to existing site grade. See Section 5-3 for additional details. • Surface Runoff Interceptor ditches or trenches or low earthen berms should be installed along the upgrade perimeters of the site to prevent surface water runoff from precipitation or other scurces from flowing over the face of excavated slopes or onto graded areas. We recommend that a surface interceptor ditch be placed every 25 feet (slope distance) on slopes exceeding 25 feet in height. • Do"nspout or Roof Drains: These should be installed once the buildings roof is in place. They should discharge in tight line to a positive, permanent drain system. Lander no circumstances connect these tight lines to the perimeter footing drains. 4.7 LTILITIES Utility line excavations, particularly beneath paved or floor slab areas, should be properh backfilled with snuctural fill to the specified de--ree of compaction or better. Shallow groundwater levels observed at the site indicate water infiltration will be a significant problem to be addressed. 4.8 PAVEMENTS The design pavement sections should consist of either a layer of Crushed Rock Base (CRB) or Asphalt Treated Base (ATB) material placed on at least 1 foot of structural fill and overlain at a later date by an .Asphalt Concrete Pavement (AC). The structural fill should be underlain by a geotexti le. such as a Nlirafi 600X. The design pavement section should consist of one of the following: Prior to placement of the structural fill, the subgrade should 1 proofrolled and overexcavated and repair performed as recommended in Section 4.0. r: 60213601 60: 1 R057 Pate 20 of 36 cop, ,6M 2000 KJ—fc ll— bx
