The ACP, its placement, and compaction shouts meet the requirements of Section 5- Asphalt Concrete Pavement of the Standard Specifications. 5.5 AUGER -CAST PILE FOCNDATIONS General: This section covers the furnishing and installation of a pile foundation system, consisting of auger cast concrete piles at the locations ani to the elevations shown on the plans or described in the specifications. Terms used in this section are defined as follows: snould be a minimum of 16 inchzs in diameter. They are cast in place concrete Auger -Cast Piles -stroke grout or gout piles installed by using a continuous -flight hollow -stem auger and a two pump. Concrete gout is pumped under pressure through the auger stem as rl auger is slowly withdrawn at a constant stea3y rate from the hole to form a continuous gout :oiurm:. Concrete or Grout should be ordinary or rapid hardening Portland cement i-javing a minimum compressive strength at 28 days of 4,000 psi. The use of cements other than thcse should comply with relevant standards and be to the approval of the engineer. Grout Mix should be made with clean water free of acids or other impurities. should be readlly pumpable, and cement content should be not less than 0.5 of the total aggregate weight per unit volume unless otherwise approved- Reinforcing for all auger -cast piles should be a reinforcing cage of rebar or equivalent structural steel placed in the pile hole. This reinforcing cage must be hand placed immediately after auger removal and gout placement. After a given hole is augered to its design depth, the auger should be withdrawn at a slow uniform rate as the gout is pumped in place The gout pressure should be sufficient to present 60,13601 601:R057 :.j cw,,,z000 Kx.rra«. 6vc r4l, :v of 36
