Properly clean profiled area. Priming& Bonding (Saw Cut&Chipped Out Repairs): Thoroughly clean any exposed reinforcing steel, and apply DURALPREP A.C.to the concrete and the reinforcing steel within the repair area.Refer to the DURALPREP A.C. technical data sheet for full instructions. Alternatively, application of a scrub coat of SPEED CRETE RED LINE to the saturated surface dry(SSD) concrete surface may be used for bonding. The repair material must be placed on the scrub coat before the scrub coat dries out. Mixing: SPEED CRETE RED LINE will require approximately 5 to 5.5 qt (4.7 to 5.2 L) of potable water per 50 lb (22.7 kg) bag to achieve the proper mix consistency. Pour the measured amount of water into a clean mixing container, then add the SPEED CRETE RED LINE, and thoroughly mix for no more than 60 seconds to a stiff, no slump, putty-like consistency. Mix small quantities of SPEED CRETE RED LINE in a clean pail with a hand trowel. Use a rotary mixer with rubber tip blades for mixing quantities up to 100 lbs. (45.4 kg). To fill patches 2" (5.1 cm) deep or greater, add clean, pre-dampened,3/8" (0.96 cm) size pea gravel. DO NOT USE LIMESTONE AGGREGATE.The mix ratio must not exceed 40 lbs. (18 kg) of pea gravel to each 50 lb (22.7 kg) bag or pail of SPEED CRETE RED LINE. Mixing procedure:Start mixer, load water, load pea gravel, and then load the SPEED CRETE RED LINE. MIX FOR NO MORE THAN 60 SECONDS. Application: For vertical repairs, place SPEED CRETE RED LINE in 1/8"-2" (3.2mm-50.0 mm) lifts. To ensure a complete bond with the entire surface, force the SPEED CRETE RED LINE firmly into the SSD area by hand or with a trowel. Slightly overfill the repair, and following initial set, shave the material to conform to the contour of the surrounding surface. Always shave SPEED CRETE RED LINE toward the common bonding edge between the repair mortar and the existing surface. Cure material using standard curing practices. Cold Weather Installation: Application at temperatures below 40°F (4°C) extends the set time. Heating the repair area until warm, using warm water for mixing, and tenting/insulating the repair area after application will increase strength development. Do not use direct heat on the repair after it is installed. Clean application tools and mixing equipment with water immediately following use. PRECAUTIONS/LIMITATIONS • Keep in covered storage away from all moisture. • Mix no more than 60 seconds. • Use only potable water with SPEED CRETE RED LINE. • Mix to a stiff, putty-like, no slump consistency. Do not add more water than recommended. • Do not apply SPEED CRETE RED LINE as a horizontal topping or as a tile setting mortar. • When necessary, follow the recommendations in ACI 305R "Guide t o r ,qr ACI 306R "Guide to Cold Weather Concreting". ITTI `A "IW • Do not re-temper or add sand to SPEED CRETE RED LINE. No Exceptions Taken • In all cases, consult the Safety Data Sheet before use. Spade or Crowbar Method This is applicable to the smaller sizes of AMERICAN Fastite Joint Pipe, and con- 1 r sists of centering the lubricated end of the entering pipe in the gasket and then push- ing against the bell face of the entering pipe with a spade or crowbar driven into the ground in front of the bell face. This , c method requires the trench bottom to be fairly firm soil. The method may not be ef- fective in a rocky trench or with a trench that is soft, muddy or sandy. A wooden Spade or Crowbar Method block between the bell face and the pry bar may increase the leverage. Easier assembly is effected if the pipe is suspended an inch or so off the bottom of the trench. Backhoe and Heavy Equipment Methods Is' These methods are usually applicable to the intermediate and larger sizes of AMERICAN Fastite Joint Pipe where the bar method might not be effective. It con- sists of centering the end of the entering pipe in the gasket as the pipe to be assem- bled is suspended from the backhoe. Then it can be pulled into the adjoining socket with the pipe sling by moving the backhoe arm toward the previously assembled pipe. In other instances, the pipe may be assem- bled — by placing the backhoe or other earth mover bucket or blade against the bell face of the entering pipe and pushing it into the socket When pushing against the bell face, care should be taken to avoid very small contact areas and possible damage to the Backhoe and Heavy Equipment Methods pipe bells or spigots. Wood cushions be- tween the backhoe bucket and the pipe are particularly effective in preventing damage. 2-14 Duvall Avenue NE Submittal Package Page to ADUCTILE IRON PIPE AMERICAN Ductile/Iron Pipe ANSI/AWWA C150/A21.50 and ANSI/AWWA C151/A21.51 Nominal Wall Thicknesses for Special Thickness Classes S S . A. , ii, 4„...,,, r • , " '' .... J c ; Features &Advantages: 1 1) The SIGMA ONE-LOK Series SLDE is a mechanical joint restraining gland that implements a series of individually activated wedges into the mechanical joint follower r gland. When the wedge segment is engaged by the actuating bolt, the primary contact edges of each wedge segment lock onto the pipe wall. This action causes the primary contact edges to grip the pipe and effectively restrain all classifications of ductile iron ONEIOK's unlade cam action allows ene restraining wedges pipe- to, gripping the pipe van more securely as Vast force 2) ONE-LOK SLDE's precision contoured wedges provide proper contact and support increases_ of the ductile iron pipe wall. Each wedge is manufactured with an elongated contour that Ern evenly matches the outside circumference of each nominal diameter of ductile iron pipe. This elongated contour also eliminates the concern of damage to both the pipe wall and . r. '„L the interior cement mortar lining caused by point loading, even on the thinner pressure classes of ductile iron pipe. - 3) ONE-LOK SLDE's wedge actuating bolt provides the installer with a visual torque indicator. The breakaway top ensures proper engagement of the wedge segment at the time of installation. Unlike other actuating bolts, the ONE-LOK SLDE is manufactured ONE-Loki,cam aciorr 316o eccornmodeles deRecton d the with a proprietary quality control system that ensures the breakaway tops will activate joInt during ilatadeti n,.and aten alines for subsidexnce, seismic at the correct torque. Once engaged, the actuating bolt leaves a residual hex-head shank, allowing post-installation disassembly of the restrained joint,if necessary. Deflection Chart 4) ONE-LOK SLDE's unique wedge segment and actuating bolt design allows the two Nominal Size Item* Deflection components to interface using a cam action principle, allowing the wedge segments 3-12" SLDE3-SLDE12 5 deg to rock and increase their grip on the pipe wall as thrust on the assembled joint 14-16" SLDE14-SLDE16 2 deg increases. This also allows improved resistance to subsidence, seismic forces, and 18-30" SLDE18-SLDE30 1 5 deg other movement within the maximum deflection limitations of the mechanical joint under 36-64" SLDE36-SLDE64 1 deg applicable AWWA standards.
