NARRATIVE
25-4208
On 05/13/2025 at approximately 0428 hours, 1, Officer Lantagne, responded to a blocking, minor
injury collision which occurred in the intersection of Talbot RD S and S Renton Village PL, which is
located in the City of Renton, County of King, and the State of Washington. 1 was in my fully marked
police vehicle, wearing my patrol uniform and body worn vehicle.
I observed Unit#1, a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup with license plates C80976C issued out of Oregon,
and Unit #2, a 2011 BMW 328 with license plates CER0029 issued out of Washington State, blocking
the southbound lanes of the intersection on Talbot RD S. The Renton Fire Department responded
and evaluated the driver of Unit#2 who was complaining of chest pain.
I contacted the driver of Unit#1, Bradly J. Aburto (DOB 10/04/2002), who told me the following:
Aburto was exiting 1-405 S onto Talbot RD S and was making a left turn at the intersection of S
Renton Village PL. Aburto stated his light was green and as he was making the left turn, the left rear
of his vehicle was struck by Unit#2. Aburto stated he did not have his driver's license with him and
did not have insurance or registration for the vehicle. Aburto stated he had just obtained the vehicle
from his mother.
I contacted the driver of Unit#2, Hieu D. Van (DOB 02/10/1977), who told me the following: Van was
driving northbound on Talbot RD S in the inside lane. As Van crossed through the intersection on a
green signal at the intersection of S Renton Village PL, the front of his vehicle struck the left rear of
Unit#1.
I observed the damage to the vehicles and other physical evidence was consistent with the
statements made by both parties. Unit#2 had significant damage to the front end which was
crumpled past the radiator. Unit#1 had significant damage to the left rear fender. The rear axle and
drive shaft was broken off of Unit#1.
The collision diagram is an accurate illustration of the events leading up to the collision.
I provided an exchange of information to Aburto and Van.
I was not able to determine which driver had a green signal at the intersection. 1 conducted a
Department of Licensing check using Aburto's information which returned showing his license was
suspended in the third degree.
I established probable cause Aburto committed the crime of driving while license suspended in the
third degree by knowingly operating a motor vehicle while his license was suspended in the third
degree.
I advised Aburto of his Miranda rights from my department issued booklet and Aburto stated he
understood his rights. I advised Aburto he was going to be issued a citation for driving with a
suspended license in the third degree and Aburto told me he did not know it had been suspended.
I issued Aburto a criminal citation, citation 5A0150057, for driving while his license was suspended in
the third degree. I issued Alburto an infraction, 5A0150056 for operating a motor vehicle without
insurance and without a driver's license on his person to be processed through the court along with
the criminal traffic citation.
