Officer Narrative
Narrative
25-4513
On 05/23/2025 at approximately 0833 hours, I was dispatched to a hit-and-run vehicle collision at the
intersection of North 3rd Street and Sunset Boulevard North, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King,
State of Washington. Dispatch advised the Reporting Party(RP) would be waiting at the nearby 7-11
convenience store for police contact.
Upon arrival, I determined there were no reports of injury requiring immediate medical response at the time
of report. While on scene, I confirmed that the other involved vehicle had fled the scene and was last seen
traveling eastbound onto NE 3rd Street. I was however able to collect the driving information and
independent summary of the events leading up to the collision from the involved party who remained on
scene (Unit#2).
Per the driver of Unit#2, he was the sole occupant of his vehicle and traveling eastbound on North 3rd Street
approaching the controlled intersection of Sunset Blvd North in lane 3 of 4(one of two left-turn lanes). The
driver of Unit#2 stated he was intending to make a northbound (left) at the intersection. I verified that Unit
#2's lane of travel was marked with road paint and signage displaying the ability to turn or continue straight
from that specific lane of travel. Upon the traffic light turning from red to green, the driver of Unit#2
proceeded out into the intersection to make the turn. The driver of Unit#2 stated that Unit#1 also proceeded
forward but from lane 4 of 4,which was a left-turn only lane. Unit#1 was supposed to turn left at the
intersection, however, per the driver of Unit#2 and via traffic camera review, Unit#1 did not turn left but
rather proceeded straight out into the intersection where both vehicles collided. Unit#1 had made an
improper movement in the intersection.
The driver of Unit#2 stated he stopped his vehicle at the intersection and observed as Unit#1 fled eastbound
onto NE 3rd Street at a high rate of speed. A review of the traffic camera footage confirmed that the driver of
Unit#1 made no attempt to stop or attempt to exchange information. The driver of Unit#1 was described a
white or light-skinned male, in his mid-30s, bald with unknown clothing.A copy of the Traffic Camera footage
has been uploaded to this report. The footage did not have enough clarity to identify a license plate number,
however, the vehicle appeared to be a silver 2010-2015 Toyota Highlander or similar SUV with black wheels.
Based on the above statements, I determined that the Driver of Unit#1 (UNKNOWN) is the proximate cause
for the cause of collision as UNKNOWN did not verify that traffic was clear before making an improper turn
from the far left turn lane into the intersection. The driver of Unit#1 (UNKNOWN)traversed across traffic
