EF93681 CASE# 25-4380 OF DATE AND rN + 05/18/25 21:47 OCOLLISION NARRATIVE On 05/18/2025, 1 was working uniformed patrol in a marked police car as 3R23. At approximately 2149 hours, officers were dispatched to a blocking accident at Sunset Blvd NE at the Northbound (NB) 1405 On-Ramp, which is located within the city limits of Renton, County of King, Washington. Dispatch advised that a neighbor in the area reported hearing the sounds of a motor vehicle collision on Sunset Blvd NE. I arrived at the call location and was able to locate the accident. This call turned out to be a two-motor vehicle accident that was blocking just south of the NB 1405 on-ramp. The two involved units and their respective occupants are identified as listed above. went to speak to the driver of Unit 1. My conversation with her is summarized as follows: Unit 1 explained that she was traveling northeastbound on Sunset Blvd NE approaching the NB 1405 on-ramp. It should be noted that Unit 1 has a yield sign just before the intersection to enter the NB 1405 on-ramp. Unit 1 stated she had looked both ways to ensure traffic was not approaching before crossing over the intersection to continue straight onto the freeway. Unit 1 continued and entered the intersection to head onto the on-ramp when she stated that she suddenly saw Unit 2 headed southwestbound on Sunset Blvd NE while she was still in the middle of the roadway. This resulted in the front end of Unit 2 colliding with the front passenger side of Unit 1. Unit 1 stated that she was wearing her seatbelt. Unit 1 initially stated she was uninjured and later told other officers that she had some chest pains as a result of the collision. I took a look around Unit 1 and saw that the entire front side of the vehicle was significantly dented. I also saw that her airbags inside the vehicle had deployed. Other officers at the location had spoken to the driver of Unit 2. They relayed the following information to me: Officers relayed that Unit 2 stated he was heading southwestbound on Sunset Blvd NE approaching the NB 1405 on-ramp. She stated that Unit 1 had entered the intersection as he was continuing straight down Sunset Blvd NE. This resulted in the front end of Unit 2 colliding with the front passenger side of Unit 1. Unit 2 stated that he was wearing her seatbelt. Unit 2 also said he was uninjured. I took a look around Unit 2 and saw that the entire front end of the vehicle was significantly dented. The driver of Unit 2 also stated his airbags did not deploy. It should be noted that Unit 2's driver mentioned that he did have current insurance, but the insurance card he provided did not list the current vehicle in this incident as a covered vehicle. The fire department arrived a short time later and evaluated the driver of Unit 1 for her complaints of injuries. Bankers tow also arrived and took possession of the two vehicles from the location as they were blocking and undriveable. PAGE 3 OF 5 REPORT NO. EF93681 CASE# 25-4380 OF DATE AND rN + 05/18/25 21:47 OCOLLISION NARRATIVE Both drivers of each respective vehicle had left the location with other family that had arrived. Based on the totality of circumstances, I believe that Unit 1 is the proximate cause of the collision. This concludes my report. I certify (declare) under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that the foregoing is true and correct.
