NARRATIVE
25-4404
On 05/19/2025 at approximately 1519 hours, I was dispatched to an unknown-if-injury vehicle
collision at the intersection of South 43rd Street and Talbot Road South, within the City Limits of
Renton, County of King, State of Washington.
Upon my arrival, I confirmed there were no complaints of injury requiring immediate medical response
at the time of report. While on scene, I collected each involved party's information and their
independent recollection of their involvement leading up to the collision.
The driver of Unit#1 stated that he was the sole occupant of his vehicle and that prior to the collision,
he was traveling eastbound on South 43rd ST approaching the intersection of Talbot Road South in
lane 2 of 4. The driver of Unit#1 stated he did not realize the traffic signal was red when he entered
the intersection and said to me, "this is my fault" Upon entering the intersection, opposing traffic had
begun to proceed. Both Unit#1 and Unit#2 collided in the intersection. Due to the impact, Unit#1
suffered moderate damage to the passenger side of the vehicle because of the collision.
The driver of Unit#2 said he was the sole occupant of his vehicle and was traveling northbound on
Talbot Road South approaching the controlled intersection of South 43rd ST in lane 1 of 2. The driver
of Unit#2 stated he was intending to proceed north at the intersection. The driver of Unit #2 stated
that upon the traffic signal turning from red to green, the driver of Unit#2 proceeded into the
intersection. Unit#2 was partially into the intersection when it was struck by Unit#1 causing
moderate damage to the front driver's quarter panel and bumper of Unit#2.
A witness who remained on scene, identified as Renee Trim, stated that she was traveling in the area
at the time of collision. Trim stated that Unit#1 appeared to not stop at the approaching intersection,
specifically at South 43rd ST and Talbot Road South, and continued into the intersection against the
displayed red light as if he did not see the light was red.
Based on the above statements, I determined that the Driver of Unit#1 (Abualrob) is the proximate
cause for the cause of collision due to Entering an Intersection against a Steady Red Circle
(Reference RCW 46.61.055(3A)). Abualrob violated RCW 46.61.055(3A) as vehicle operators facing
a steady circular red signal alone shall stop at a clearly marked stop line, but if none, before entering
the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if none, then before entering the intersection
control area and shall remain standing until an indication to proceed is shown.
Both Unit#1 and Unit#2 were able to be driven away from the scene without further incident. An
exchange of information was provided to all involved parties.
