NARRATIVE
On May 27, 2025, at approximately 1439 hours, I was dispatched to a vehicle collision in the 410
Burnett Ave N, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of Washington.
Upon my arrival, I contacted the involved parties and confirmed the driver of Unit 1 was complaining
of chest pain and was actively being treated by RRFA. RRFA evaluated all involved parties at the
scene and later transported the driver of Unit 1 to Valley Medical Center for further evaluation. While
on scene, I collected each involved party's driving information and their independent recollection of
the incident.
The driver of Unit 1, identified as Michael Meier, stated he was the sole occupant of his vehicle and
was attempting to travel northbound on Burnett Ave N at the intersection of N 4th St. Michael said he
N 4th St is a one-way road. When he checked westbound traffic, he didn't see any vehicles. Micheal
proceeded forward through intersection. As Micheal reached the middle of the road, he was met by
another vehicle- Unit 2. Micheal was unable to avoid the collision after having pulled out into the
roadway and that Unit#2 struck the passenger side of Unit 1, specifically on the driver's side, causing
significant damage.
The driver of Unit 2, identified as Nathaniel Wickline, said he was the sole occupant of his vehicle and
was traveling westbound in about the 600 block of N 4th St in lane 2 of 4. Nathaniel stated he was
intending to continue west to the intersection of Logan Ave N with the intent to make a left turn. Upon
reaching the location of where Unit 1 was turning out from (Burnett Ave N), Nathaniel observed Unit 1
pull out into the roadway but was unable to avoid the collision. Both vehicles collided in the roadway
and Unit 2 suffered significant damage to the front driver's side.
An independent witness identified as Kristy Gish reported a similar story as Nathaniel. Kristy said she
was stopped in lane 3 of 4. Westbound traffic was backed up, so she created a gap to allow Unit 1 to
cross N 4th St from Burnett Ave N. Unit 1 failed to notice Unit 2 in lane 3 of 4 and drove onto Unit 2's
path which he was already underway.
Based on the above statements, I believe that the driver of Unit#1 (Michael) is the proximate cause
for the cause of collision as he is required to comply with RCW 46.61.190 (2a) which states that every
driver of a vehicle Except when directed to proceed by a duly authorized flagger, or a police officer, or
a firefighter vested by law with authority to direct, control, or regulate traffic, every driver of a vehicle
approaching a stop sign shall stop except as provided in (b) of this subsection at a clearly marked
stop line, but if none, before entering a marked crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if
none, then at the point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching
traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering the roadway, and after having stopped shall yield
the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to
constitute an immediate hazard during the time when such driver is moving across or within the
intersection or junction of roadways.
Both Unit#1 and Unit#2 had to be towed due to extensive damage. An exchange of information was
provided to all involved parties.
