Portions of this incident were recorded. This report is merely a summary of the incident and is not intended to be an exact transcription of the entire investigation or what may have been captured with the recording system. I was operating a fully marked Police Tahoe #320 which was equipped with overhead emergency lights and sirens. Case Number 25-3900 On 05/02/2025 at approximately 1920 hours, I was dispatched to an injury collision that occurred at the intersection of Hardie Ave SW and SW 5th Pl, within the City of Renton, King County, Washington. I identified unit 1 in this collision as a 2014 Ford Focus (WA/LIC: CLX9816 VIN# 1 FADP3F27EL286254). The driver and sole occupant of unit 1 was identified as Yorgeliz C Barboza Taborda (DOB 07/30/1999). Unit 1 sustained very minor damage to the front bumper and was able to leave under its own power, Yorgeliz did not sustain any injuries. Unit 2 was a bicyclist who I identified as Megan A Yingling (DOB 01/12/1990). Megan was not wearing a helmet and sustained scrapes to her left side along with complaint of pain along her left leg. Megan was able to walk around on her own, but she was transported to Valley Medical Center. Unit 2 was riding her bicycle northbound on the western sidewalk of Hardie Ave SW, approaching SW 5th PI. Unit 1 was preparing to make a right turn to travel southbound on Hardie Ave SW from SW 5th PI. Unit 1 failed to see Unit 1 who was in the crosswalk, causing the front of Unit 1 to strike the bicycle of unit 2. 1 am led to believe that unit 2 failing to dismount her bicycle in the crosswalk made it difficult for unit 1 to observe her entering the crosswalk however I am also led to believe unit 1 failed to fully visually clear the intersection prior to entering it. Due to the above listed factors I am unable to determine the proximate cause of the collision.
