NARRATIVE
CC 25-4681
On 5/29/2025 at 0932 hours I was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at around the 300 block of
Sunset Blvd N in the City of Renton, King County, Washington.
Pre-Collision
Driver 2 stated that he was traveling South on Sunset Blvd N in the #3 lane.
Driver 1 stated that he was traveling South on Sunset Blvd N in the #1 lane preparing to change lanes
to perform a lefthand turn into a business on the East side of Sunset Blvd N.
Collision
Driver 2 stated that as he entered the 300 block of Sunset Blvd N, he saw Unit 1 merging into his lane
and saw that Unit 1 was about to collide with Unit 2. Driver 2 stated that he swerved left into the 2-
way center turn lane to avoid the collision. Driver 2 was unable to avoid the collision, and the front
drivers side bumper of Unit 1 collided with the rear passenger side bumper of Unit 2. This caused Unit
2 to spin clockwise and flatten the rear drivers side tire. Due to the rear drivers side tire being
flattened, the rim of the rear drivers side tire caught the ground causing a large and deep gouge mark
in the roadway. This caused Unit 2 to roll onto its drivers side. Unit 2 rolled entirely once and then
began its second roll before it came to a rest on it's drivers side doors. Witness 1 corroborated the
same story as Driver 2 and confirmed the number of times Unit 2 rolled.
Driver 1 stated that he was merging from the #1 lane into the #2 lane, then from the #2 lane into the
#3 lane. Driver 1 stated that he did not see Unit 2 and when he entered lane #3 he felt an impact
causing Unit 1 to come to an abrupt stop. Driver 1 stated that he hit his head on something inside of
Unit 1 and when he looked up he saw Unit 2 coming to a rest on it's drivers side doors.
Injuries
Driver 1 complained of head pain and Driver 2 had noticeable bleeding from different areas of the
body from shattered glass. No injuries were substantial and all Drivers and Passengers were cleared
by Renton Regional Fire Authority at the scene and were not transported.
Vehicle Disposition
Unit 2 was rendered inoperable and Unit 1 was operational.
Proximate Cause
I determined that Driver 1 is the proximate cause of this collision because a vehicle shall be driven as
nearly as practicable entirely within a single lane and shall not be moved from such lane until the
driver has first ascertained that such movement can be made with safety.
Driver 1 was cited per RCW 46.61.140
