Unless otherwise noted,the following occurred within the city limits of Renton, county of King, state of
Washington.
On 06/13/2025, 1 was working as a uniformed police officer for the city of Renton.At approximately 2016
hours, I attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a gray 2007 Honda Pilot, WA lic/BHY5543, in the 800 block of
Logan Ave N (northbound). Portions of my involvement in the incident were captured on my
department-issued bodycam and dashcam.
I had spent the minutes leading up to the stop looking for the vehicle, as it is currently listed as stolen in
WACIC/NCIC. It had hit on multiple different FLOCK cameras in the area of The Landing, 828 N 10th Pl. FLOCK
is a company that provides stationary license plate reader cameras to law enforcement agencies.
I was travelling southbound on Logan Ave N when I observed the vehicle making a u-turn to go northbound in
the intersection of Logan Ave N and N 8th St. I activated my emergency lights and turned around to try and
stop the vehicle. By the time I did,the vehicle was already passing other northbound vehicles in the
southbound lanes of travel. I lost sight of it as it proceeded through the intersection of N 10th St and Logan
Ave N.That was the last time I saw the vehicle. I shut down my emergency lights after I made it through that
same intersection.
I continued driving northbound routine. Once I reached the intersection at Park Ave N and Logan Ave N,
citizens flagged me down, indicating that the vehicle continued eastbound on what was now N Southport Dr,
then turned north on Lake Washington Blvd N. I proceeded east through the intersection and was flagged
down by a citizen in lane 1 of 4, who was associated with a 2020 Genesis G70(WA lic/CMN8703).The vehicle
had apparent rear damage and had its hazards turned on.
I spoke briefly with the driver, who informed me that he was indeed involved in a collision. Furthermore,the
other involved vehicle had left the scene and was in fact the Honda Pilot I attempted to stop only minutes
before. I requested to meet with the man at Target, 1215 N Landing Way,to speak further, as we were
blocking traffic. He agreed.
Once at Target, I spoke at length with the driver, identified as Sean Nguyen (10/19/1997—WA DOL photo). He
recapped the incident from his perspective, summarized as follows:

He was stationary in lane 1 of 4 on N Southport Dr,just west of the intersection at Lake Washington
Blvd N. Suddenly, he was struck by the Honda Pilot,which sped off north on Lake Washington Blvd N.
He complained of whiplash, but no other notable injuries.
I provided him with a business card, along with the case number. I also captured photos of the damage to his
vehicle.
I reviewed my dashcam footage to try and get a suspect description, but the footage was unfortunately not
clear enough. As of this time,there is no suspect information.
This case serves as a documented history of flight for WA lic/BHY5543. I notified patrol units via email.
