Door(s) Rear Collision 2025-00005347 Paqe 3 OF 6 Case Number 2025-00005347 Officer Narrative Narrative ASSIGNMENT/ARRIVAL On 06/19/2025 at approximately 1356 hours, I was dispatched to a two vehicle collision in the 1400 block of NE Sunset Boulevard in the city of Renton, King County,Washington. I arrived at approximately 1403 hours. UNIT 1: KENWORTH TRUCK-TRACTOR Upon arrival I observed a silver/gray 2007 Kenworth truck-tractor(WA/C41229P, Unit 1) stopped facing west in the westbound number one(closest to curb) lane of NE Sunset Boulevard east of the 1-405 overpass. Unit 1 had been moved from its point of rest prior to my arrival. Unit 1 was not damaged in the collision. Unit 1 was hauled a loaded dump trailer of gravel(unknown trailer make,WA/47929AC). Unit 1 was owned and operated by Barnes Hauling, LLC (DOT: 1889288). UNIT 2:TOYOTA COROLLA I observed a red 2013 Toyota Corolla (WA/AKP5293, Unit 2)stopped facing west behind Unit 2. Unit 2 had been moved from its point of rest prior to my arrival. Unit 2's rear bumper was ripped off in the collision.The trunk was dented and damaged. DRIVER 1: BARNES,TYE G. I contacted Tye G. Barnes(DOB: 06/06/1999) standing on the sidewalk near both vehicles. I identified Barnes by his valid Washington Class A Driver License. I established Barnes as the driver of Unit 1 by his admission. Barnes was not injured from the collision. DRIVER 2:SHELDON,SANDRA K. This incident occurred in the sCity of Renton,King County,Washington State. !declare underpenalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that the foregoing is true and correct. Sheldon (DOB: 02/14/1946) standing on the sidewalk near Unit 2. 1 identified Sheldon by her valid Washington Driver License. I established Sheldon as the driver of Unit 2 by her admission. Sheldon was not injured from the collision. PASSENGER Diannia 1.Sheldon (DOB: 12/14/1966)was the front passenger of Unit 2 and was not injured in the collision. STATEMENT: BARNES TYE G. 1 spoke with Barnes about the collision. Barnes said he drove Unit 1 west on NE Sunset Boulevard in the number two lane toward the intersection of the northbound 1-405 on/off-ramp.This intersection was controlled by traffic signals. Barnes slowly drove downhill through medium-heavy stop and go traffic. Barnes estimated he was traveling around 1 mile per hour. Barnes suddenly felt an impact and noticed Unit 1's front bumper collided with Unit 2's rear bumper,which was stopped for traffic in front of him. Barnes said he didn't see Unit 2 in front of him due to the height difference in the vehicles. This concluded my conversation with Barnes. STATEMENT:SHELDON,SANDRA K. Sheldon's statement corroborated Barnes'statement that she was stopped in traffic and was rear-ended by Unit 2. PROXIMATE.CAUS.E_. Officer: Gorajewski, Raymond #R12399 Reviewed By: Barfield, Gregory C Date/Time: 06/19/2025 04:57 Collision 2025-00005347 Paqe 5 OF 6 Case Number 2025-00005347 Officer Narrative-Continued Barnes'actions were the proximate cause of the collision, namely his violation of RCW 46.61.400(1), which states: No person shall drive a vehicle on a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard to the actual and potential hazards then existing. In every event speed shall be so controlled as may be necessary to avoid colliding with any person, vehicle or other conveyance on or entering the highway in compliance with legal requirements and the duty of all persons to use due care. DISPOSITION Both parties exchanged information and drove their vehicles from the scene. This concluded my involvement in this case.
