Pre-Collision Driver 2 stated that he was traveling North on 108th Ave SE in the #2 lane approaching the intersection of 108th Ave SE and SE 190th St. Driver 1 stated that he was facing West at a stop sign on SE 190th St at the intersection of SE 190th St and 108th Ave SE. Collision Driver 2 stated that as he entered the intersection in the #2 lane, Unit 1 emerged from behind a large white box truck that was in the #1 lane. Driver 2 stated that he did not have time to react and the front bumper of Unit 1 collided with the passenger side doors of Unit 2, forcing it across the 2-way center turn lane and into the #2 lane of Southbound 108th Ave SE. Driver 1 stated that he saw that there was a large white box truck in the #1 lane approaching the intersection of 108th Ave SE and SE 190th St that was blocking his view of the #2 lane. Driver 1 stated that the box truck turned right onto SE 190th St and he began to pull into traffic to perform a lefthand turn to proceed South on 108th Ave SE. Driver 1 stated that as he began his lefthand turn, Unit 2 emerged from behind the box truck and he did not have time to react before the front bumper of Unit 1 collided with the passenger side doors of Unit 2. Injuries No injuries reported. Vehicle Disposition Unit 2 was rendered inoperable and towed from the scene by Gene Meyers. Proximate Cause I determined that Driver 1 is the proximate cause of this collision because except when directed to proceed by a duly authorized flagger, or a police officer, or a firefighter vested by law with authority to direct, control, or regulate traffic, every driver of a vehicle approaching a stop sign shall stop except as provided in (b) of this subsection at a clearly marked stop line, but if none, before entering a marked crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if none, then at the point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering the roadway, and after having stopped shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time when such driver is moving across or within the intersection or junction of roadways.
