On July 10, 2025, at 1505 hours dispatch requested that I respond to a collision that involved a Renton
Police Officer at Marshalts, 825 N Landing Way, in the city of Renton, County of King, and State of
Washington. Detective D.Scott reported that she had recently collided with another vehicle in the
parking lot.
Upon my arrival I spoke with Detective Scott, and she explained that while reversing a Large plastic
container inside the cab of her vehicle obstructed her view of the rear windshield.While proceeding
backwards, she failed to see another vehicle that had also reversed and was now standing still in the
aisle behind her.The driver of the other vehicle honked their horn, but their vehicle happened to be in
Detective Scotts blind spot. Eventually,the two vehicles collided in the aisle, but the damage was minor.
Detective Scott was operating a Ford Escape bearing Washington plates BIR3403.The vehicle sustained
a minor scratch to the rear right bumper.
I spoke with the driver of the other vehicle.The driver was identified as Gonzalo Arellano(08/06/1975),
and he was operating a Honda Civic bearing Washington plates CKB9959. Gonzalo reported a similar
explanation as Detective Scott. He explained that he had recently reversed,when Detective Scott also
began to drive backwards.As he was stopped in the aisle, Detective Scott slowly backed into his front
bumper.The Honda sustained a small scratch to the front bumper/right fender. His front right marker
Light also sustained a small scuff.
Detective Scott had already provided Gonzalo with Renton insurance card.
I provided Gonzalo with my contact information and case number.
I took photographs of the damage sustained by the two vehicles and attached them to this police report.
