Unless otherwise noted,the following occurred within the city limits of Renton, county of King, state of
Washington.
On 07/11/2025, 1 was working as a uniformed police officer for the city of Renton.At approximately 1922
hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury, non-blocking motor vehicle accident at Smash Burger, 203 S 2nd St.
Portions of my involvement in the incident were captured on my department-issued bodycam.
While enroute, dispatch relayed that a collision occurred in the parking lot at the location. One involved party
reportedly did not have insurance.
When I arrived on scene, I spoke with the driver of unit 2,who provided the following account of the collision:
She was driving on S 2nd St and turned into the parking lot at the address. Soon after, she was struck
by unit 1. She attempted to exchange info with the other party, but they would not provide any of the
necessary information to her. Moments after the collision, she was approached by a witness to the
collision who provided contact information to her.
I observed visible damage to the front driver's side bumper of unit 2. She pointed out that the damage to unit
1 would be on the rear bumper, mostly on the driver's side of it.
I walked over to unit 1 and indeed observed damage in that area. I then attempted to speak with the driver of
unit 1. However, he had no recollection of what had occurred or preferred to not tell me what happened. I
asked if he could tell me which direction he was coming from in the moment leading up to the collision. He
said he did not remember. I asked if he could physically indicate which direction he was coming from, he did
not. He did not have up-to-date insurance on his vehicle, with the most recent expiring late last year.
I cited the driver of unit 1 for RCW 46.30.020—operating motor vehicle without liability insurance.The citation
number is#5A0583911. It was forwarded to the Renton prosecutor's queue.
