Water Conservation – Saving Water Partnership Joined in 2012 through wholesale water agreement with SPU. Comprised of 19 local utility partners. Regional Goal: Keep the total average annual retail water use of SWP members under 110 million gallons per day (mgd) through 2028, despite forecasted population growth, by reducing per capita water use. Met in 2024 with 94.5mgd. 1. Education and Outreach •35 in-classroom presentations for 882 students 2. Outdoor Water Conservation •6 gardening classes with 90 attendees 3. Human Error: Worker failed to completely shut off valve on chlorine gas cylinder Consequences: No injury Lessons Learned: •Operators must be thoroughly trained on safety systems and procedures. •Equipment condition must be regularly assessed and acted upon. •Clear protocols are needed for leaks and abnormal situations.
