Summary of Bidders Inquiries No. 1
SW 43rd Street, W C/L to SR 167 Ramps Project
CAG-25-004
Date: July 25, 2025
The responses to bidder inquiries, unless incorporated into a formal addendum to the contract, are not
part of the contract and are provided for the bidders’ convenience only. The responses may be considered
along with all other information furnished to prospective bidders for the purpose of bidding on the
project. The use of information provided in the responses to bidder inquiries is not to be construed in any
way as a waiver of the provisions nor excuse the contractor from full compliance with the contract
requirements. Bidders are cautioned that subsequent responses or contract addenda may affect or vary
a response previously given and any such subsequent response or addenda should be taken into
consideration when submitting a bid for the project.
Bidder Inquiry No. 1
I am preparing the bid documents for the above-mentioned project and before I make signature
arrangements, does the City of Renton accept DocuSign on bid documents?
Response to Bidder Inquiry No. 1
Yes, we accept DocuSign on bid documents.
Bidder Inquiry No. 2
I have a very big differences in my takeoff vs the Bid Item package.
1. There are 860 SY of ramps from the bid item package. I can find 525 SY, I did a takeoff from the
ramp details and from the Roadway plan.
2. My curb is short by a lot a decent amount
3. Really short on my sidewalk. Not sure where the high strength sidewalk is.
4. Is the median concrete to be paid in one of the mono bid items?
5. Often there is a pedestrian curb bid item, was this left out on purpose?
6. There’s a detectable strip on ramps 9 and 10 just include that in the price?
Response to Bidder Inquiry No. 2
The questions shall be addressed by Addendum No. 3.
Bidder Inquiry No. 3
1. On the storm plan pages under note 4 it states the structures will be labeled A,B or C for what
type of structures, they are not labeled
2. For bid item #A39 Adjust storm structures; there are no call outs for what type of casting is
needed, need to know this to quote ring & covers or type 1 castings. There are no callouts, are
the structures type 1 or type 2?
Response to Bidder Inquiry No. 3
1. The type of proposed structure is identified in the Storm Drainage Plan & Profile sheets 36-49 in
plan view and profile view. In plan view, structure type is identified with storm drainage notes 1
and 2 and symbolized by structure type per the storm drainage legend. In profile view, the
Page 2 of 4
structure type is listed with the SD CB structure number and information. See below for
reference to the location of the structure type in profile view, highlighted in blue.
2. For existing structure type, see existing legend on Legend & Abbreviations, sheet 3 for the
symbol used to identify the existing structure type on the Roadway Plan, sheets 22-28.
Bidder Inquiry No. 4
1. Bid item A39, Adjust Storm Drainage Structure to grade has a quantity of 56. After a site walk
most of them are cast in existing Curb and gutter. Is the intent to replace them with new sections
of curb and gutter? And if so, how will the removal and new curb and gutter be paid?
2. Bid item A10 Fuel Cost Adjustment. Has no quantity and refers us to Spec. Section 1-09 that
says.” To provide a common proposal for all bidders, the Contracting Agency has entered an
amount in the proposal to become a part of the Contractor’ s total bid”. Should we leave it at
$0.00?
Response to Bidder Inquiry No. 4
1. It is not the intention to install new curb and gutter at existing storm drainage structures that
are incorporated into existing curb and gutter that is not noted to be replaced. In the Roadway
Plans, construction note 9 will be deleted from existing storm drainage structures at existing
curb and gutter, unless new curb and gutter is called for per the Roadway Plans, sheet 22-28.
These changes will be addressed in a future Addendum.
For removal limits of the existing curb and gutter, see the Site Preparation & TESC Plans, sheets
15-21. For proposed new curb and gutter, see the Roadway Plans, sheets 22-28. Removal of
existing curb and gutter will be paid under Bid Item A24 Roadway Excavation Incl. Haul, see
Addendum No. 3, Special Provision 2-03.5, and WSDOT Standard Specification 2-03.5. New curb
and gutter will be paid under Bid Item A48 Cement Conc. Traffic Curb and Gutter or Bid Item
Page 3 of 4
A50 High-Strength Cement Conc. Traffic Curb and Gutter, see Special Provisions 8-04.5 and
WSDOT Standard Specification 8-04.5.
2. Bid item A10 Fuel Cost Adjustment is deleted. See Addendum No. 3 for modified Schedule of
Prices.
Bidder Inquiry No. 5
1. I was just on the phone with Miles resources. We’re wondering if the high-strength concrete
needs to hit 4000psi in three days or is it 2500psi in three days which is the typical for those
mixes. If it’s 4000 in three then it’ll be an expensive mix.
2. For the High strength mono curb called out on sheet 27 according to the detail that would
include the sidewalk behind it but in this case the ramps are behind it and are called out as their
own items. I’m assuming just calculate a curb only price and a ramp price but then have it
poured mono?
3. Going back to my earlier question about the ramp SY. I took my total ramp takeoff SY then
added the non high-strength portion to it again and I came very close to the amount listed by
the bid item list.
Response to Bidder Inquiry No. 5
1. High-strength cement concrete sidewalks and high-strength curb ramps shall be constructed
with high early strength air entrained concrete reaching 4,000 psi by 3 days conforming to the
requirement of Section 6-02 of the Standard Specifications per Special Provision 8-14.3
2. Yes, the monolithic curb and curb ramp are separate bid items but will be constructed
monolithic per the details in the plans.
3. See Addendum No. 3 for clarity of the pay limits between cement concrete curb ramp type and
high-strength cement concrete curb ramp type.
Bidder Inquiry No. 6
We could use some clarification regarding Roadway Excavation, Incl. Haul. Under payment 2-03.5 on SP-
64 and 65 It states that asphalt/or concrete pavement, sidewalks, curbs and gutters located within the
grade lines shown. In that same paragraph it states that All other existing pavement, brick pavers,
sidewalks, curb and gutter, storm drainage Structures, abandoned utilities, and other structures
intended to be removed for the installation of the proposed Improvements shall be paid under
“Removal of Structure and Obstruction”
Does the sidewalk, curb and gutter removal get paid under Roadway Excavation, Incl. Haul or Removal
of Structures and Obstructions?
Response to Bidder Inquiry No. 6
Removal of sidewalk, curb and gutter, and pavement are paid under Bid Item A24 Roadway Excavation
Incl. Haul, see Addendum No. 3, Special Provision 2-03.5, and WSDOT Standard Specification 2-03.5.
For Bid Item A23 Removal of Structures and Obstructions, see the itemized table in Special Provision 2-
02.1. See below for a snippet of the table.

Bidder Inquiry No. 7
Shouldn’t item A33 Asphalt Cost Price Adjustment have a dollar amount?
Response to Bidder Inquiry No. 7
Bid Item A33 Asphalt Cost Price Adjustment is deleted. See Addendum No. 3 for modified Schedule of
Prices.
Bidder Inquiry No. 8
I apologize for the timing of this question but I just happened to notice that there is a Bid Item for
“Asphalt Cost Price Adjustment” (escalation) but there is no bid amount $$ like there is for Compaction
and Mix Compliance. Is this a typo or is escalation not part of the project? These are Bid Items A33,A34
& A35. And A33 is the only one without a dollar amount.
Response to Bidder Inquiry No. 8
See Addendum No. 3 for the revisions described below.
1. Bid Item A32 Job Mix Compliance Price Adjustment unit price is revised to $40,200.00.
2. Bid Item A33 Compaction Price Adjustment unit price is revised to $66,900.00.
3. Bid Item A10 Fuel Cost Adjustment is deleted. See Addendum No. 3 for modified Schedule of
Prices.
4. Bid Item A33 Asphalt Cost Price Adjustment is deleted. See Addendum No. 3 for modified
Schedule of Prices.
Bidder Inquiry No. 9
I noticed items A10 and A33 in the schedule of prices have been left blank. Since these are force
account items I’m a little confused on how to fill out the bid form for these items.
Response to Bidder Inquiry No. 9
See Addendum No. 3 for the revisions described below.
1. Bid Item A10 Fuel Cost Adjustment is deleted. See Addendum No. 3 for modified Schedule of
Prices.
2. Bid Item A33 Asphalt Cost Price Adjustment is deleted. See Addendum No. 3 for modified
Schedule of Prices.
