EG09911 CASE# 25-6072 OF COLLISION 07/14/25 13:01 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE 25-6072 On July 15th, 2025, at 1301 hours dispatch requested that I respond to a collision that occurred near 1405 and NE Sunset Blvd, in the city of Renton, county of King, and state of Washington. Upon contact, I spoke with the driver of Unit 2, a 2019 Hyundai Sonata bearing Washington plates CPU6645. The driver, identified by his WADS. as Cameron C. Earhart, reported that he exited the southbound off ramp from 1405 to NE Sunset Blvd and intended to make a left turn to travel eastbound. Cameron was the first vehicle at the intersection and was facing south when the traffic signal turned green. As he proceeded to make his left turn, Unit 1 collided with Unit 2 in the roadway. Cameron's vehicle sustained severe damage to the driver's side doors which completely disabled the vehicle from moving and caused the side airbags to deploy. Cameron refused any medical assistance, and his vehicle was removed from the location by Bankers Towing. I then spoke with the driver of Unit 1, BMW X3 bearing Washington plates 91-14054. The driver, identified by her WAID as Susan Williams, explained she was traveling eastbound on NE Sunset Blvd and intended to continue westbound towards N Southport Dr. Susan said she could not recall what color the traffic signal was when she entered the intersection of 1405 and NE Sunset Blvd. Susan's vehicle sustained moderate damage to the front, causing it to became undrivable. Susan had the title to the vehicle but had not registered it to her name. Susan was operating the vehicle without insurance and a valid drivers license. Susan did not have insurance, so I had to impound her vehicle. The vehicle was blocking the roadway and Bankers Towing removed it from the location as well. I then spoke with an independent witness named Cynthia Schneble. Cynthia stated she was stopped at a red traffic signal facing eastbound on N Southport Dr and 1405. As she waited, Unit 2 began to make his left turn, but was then struck by Unit 1 who was traveling westbound on NE Sunset Blvd. 1 asked Cynthia if she could recall what color the traffic signal was when the collision occurred. She stated her traffic light was solid red. Based on the above statements, 1 determined that the Driver of Unit 1 (Cynthia) is the proximate cause for the cause of collision due to Entering an Intersection against a Steady Red Circle (Reference RCW 46.61.055(3A). She violated RCW 46.61.055(3A) as vehicle operators facing a steady circular red signal alone shall stop at a clearly marked stop line, but if none, before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if none, then before entering the intersection control area and shall remain standing until an indication to proceed is shown. Cynthia was issued a Sector infraction for operating a motor vehicle without insurance and entering an intersection against a steady red circle.
