On November 7, 1990, the King County Landmarks Commission adopted a • "Designation Report"designating the subject property (known as the "Elliott Farm") as a King County Landmark pursuant to King County Code ch. 20.62 (the County ordinance for designating landmarks in unincorporated King County). This designation was based on the County's determination that the farm buildings on the property were a good example of the early dairy farms that existed in the southeast . King County. B. At the time of the County's designation of the Elliott Farms as a landmark,several of the farm buildings had already collapsed due to advanced deterioration. None of the remaining buildings were habitable or usable. C. The subject property was incorporated into the City of Renton in 2008. D. The City of Renton does not have a city-operated historic preservation program and does not have any programs for the restoration or protection of historic structures or properties. E. By the time the Elliott Farm was annexed to the City,the remaining buildings on the property had deteriorated to the point that they were attractive nuisances and a hazard. RELEASE OF LANDMARKS DESIGNATION- 1 • The City was contacted by the property owner,who requested permission to demolish the remaining structures and remove the resulting debris. City of Renton demolition permit no. B080548 was issued to the property owner on October 2, 2008 and the remaining structures and debris were removed shortly thereafter. F. The designation of the Property as a Landmark is no longer appropriate because there is no remaining evidence of the previous existence of the Elliott Farm and the property should be released from the designation. RELEASE NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Renton, as successor in interest to King County, hereby releases and terminates the King CouTty Landmarks Commission Designation Report recorded on November 8, 1990 under King County Recording No. 9011080978 against the following described property: Beginning at the southwest corner of the intersection of the Maple Valley Highway(State Route 169)and the access easement of tax lot 188,then south approximately 310' feet to the northern boundary of tax lot 188, then west approximately 675', then north approximately 480' to the Maple Valley highway right-of-way,then easterly along Maple Valley Highway approximately 680' to the point of beginning, all within Section 22, Township 23N,Range 5E.
