Statements have been paraphrased and summarized. On 08-03-2025 1 was working as a police officer in a fully marked, department issued uniform, patrolling in a marked police vehicle for the city of Renton. At approximately 1126 hours I was dispatched to a hit/run report that occurred at 579 Kirkland Ave NE, City of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. I gathered from the call notes, overnight someone collided with the reporting party's vehicle and fled the scene. No suspect information was provided. Dispatch advised the vehicle that was damaged was a red 2003 Ford Mustang(license plate#BVX9942/WA). I arrived on scene and observed that the vehicle's rear driver's side fender had obvious damage. The rear driver's side fender was dented inwards towards the trunk,the rear driver's side tire was flat, and the rear driver's side rim was broken. I observed pieces of the after-market rim in pieces on the street. There were also white paint scratch marks on the rear driver's side fender. I met with the registered owner of the vehicle (William W. Sullivan (DOB 09-25-1983)) and his father(Wayne P. Sullivan (DOB 04-04-1948)).Wayne advised the following occurred:Wayne was the last person to see the vehicle, and it was at approximately 2100 hours on 08-02-2025. Wayne had just returned home from the store and parked the vehicle in front of the house near the sidewalk. The vehicle faced south and had no apparent damage when it was last seen. Wayne had stayed up until about midnight and did not hear anything loud such as a vehicle collision occur outside of the residence.Wayne noticed there was damage to the vehicle at approximately 0800 hours today when his friend came over. Wayne notified his son William about the damage as well. I spoke with William who is the registered owner of the vehicle, and he advised he wanted to be a victim and press charges. If a suspect is positively identified, I have probable cause to believe that they have committed the crime of Hit and Run Unattended (RCW 46.52.010.1), by failing to stop and exchange their contact information, exchange insurance information,vehicle registration, and driver's license information after being involved in a collision. If a suspect is positively identified, I have probable cause to believe that they have committed the crime of Malicious Mischief in the 3rd Degree (RCW 9A.48.090), damaging William's vehicle which caused approximately$800 in repairs. I gave William and Wayne a copy of the case number to reference this incident. I took photos of the vehicle and uploaded it to evidence.com. I canvased the area for video surveillance cameras that could have captured the incident. I spoke with a resident at 583 Kirkland Ave NE that had a camera that appeared to point towards the area of the vehicle. I was told the view of the camera angle was pointed towards the lawn and did not capture the hit and run.
