Refer to this video for any exact quotations or for an exact sequence of events. The following is a summary of the events: On 08/04/2025, 1 was working as a Police Officer for the city of Renton. I was wearing a fully marked uniform and driving a fully marked vehicle. At approximately 2214 hours, I was dispatched to hit and run report at S 3rd St and Burnett Ave S, within the city of Renton, King County, state of Washington. The complainant advised that a truck hit the traffic lights at the intersection. Upon arrival, I observed the intersection's two eastbound traffic lights with heavy damage. The traffic lights were still cycling but were pointed towards the ground. Despite the heavy damage, the traffic light structures appeared relatively stable and there did not appear to be damage to the pole itself. I also observed glass-like material on the streets which appeared to be from the traffic lights. I called complainant GARY DONALDSON who advised that he did not witness the collision but saw a large construction truck driving eastbound on S 3rd St away from the scene. I later contacted a Metro Security Guard who identified himself via WA DOL as HAJI B. PABAI (DOB: 12/24/1991). Haji advised that at approximately 2212 hours, he recorded the involved trucks fleeing the scene. Haji later submitted the video to Evidence.com. Haji was unable to identify the individuals involved. I reviewed the footage. In summary, an unknown make and model commercial truck with an "OVERSIZE LOAD" banner carrying a large structure can be seeing driving eastbound on S 3rd St from the intersection. The video then captures the traffic pole shaking as if it had just been struck. From the video, it appears the large structure is tall enough to strike the traffic lights. Also, a gray Toyota Tacoma with an "OVERSIZE LOAD" banner can be seen trailing closely behind the commercial truck. The recording was unable to clearly capture the Toyota's license plates. I also did not observe any company identifiers on either vehicle. The video did not capture any individuals involved. I utilized Flock Safety to check for matching vehicles with negative results. Based upon the totality of the circumstances, the driver of the commercial truck committed hit and run unattended. The commercial truck knowingly struck a structure, did not report the collision, and fled the scene. Striking a light pole of that magnitude would cause obvious drag and loud noises that the average person would This incident occurred in the sCity of Renton,King County,Washington State. !declare underpenalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that the foregoing is true and correct. Furthermore, the commercial truck had a spotter vehicle trailing behind that would have clearly observed the collision. Although the light pole appeared stable, it was possible that the traffic light structures were still compromised from the collision. Furthermore, the traffic lights were pointed down and vehicles were unable to observe the traffic signals. This was apparent when I witnessed vehicles drive through the red light signal on multiple occasions. In conclusion, I believed that the damaged traffic light structures posed a safety risk and requested that Public Works be called out to remedy the situation. I took photos of the scene and later uploaded them to Evidence.com. I also completed an Origami Risk Report. This concludes my involvement on today's date.
