RENTON POLICE CASE#:25-6821

*This incident was captured on my body worn video camera. This report is a summary of events that
occurred and is not an exact sequencing of events.Statements have been paraphrased and summarized.
On 08.05.2025, at approximately 2054 hours, I was dispatched to a two-vehicle, blocking, non-injury
collision at the intersection of S. 2nd ST and Rainier Ave S., in the City of Renton, WA, the County of
King.
At the time of this incident, I was assigned to uniformed marked patrol in the City of Renton, WA, the
County of King. I was operating a fully marked Renton Police Chevy Silverado #314, equipped with
"POLICE" markings, interior lights, and audible siren. I was wearing my department-issued uniform,
including a fully equipped duty belt, exterior ballistic vest with "POLICE" stenciled on the front and
back and Renton Police badge affixed to the left breast. I was also wearing my department-issued
jumpsuit with "POLICE" patches on both shoulders and across the rear shoulders. It would be
immediately obvious to any reasonable person I was a police sergeant. I was assigned as the
graveyard patrol sergeant for the north end of the city, 6r20.At the time of this collision, it was overcast
and dark, the streetlights were illuminated, the roadways were wet and free from debris. It was
approximately 48 degrees and raining steadily.
I arrived on scene at approximately 2101 hours and spoke with both involved parties, who denied
injuries.
Unit 01 was identified as a 1993 black in color Honda Accord bearing WA Plate:CTB0638. Unit 01
had no visible damage to the front bumper, and it was operable.
Unit 01's driver was identified by his WA State Driver's License as CALAHAN.ROBERT EARL(DOB:
02.07.1958). CALAHAN matched the photo shown on his WADL and he stated he was traveling
westbound on S. 2nd ST, which is undergoing heavy construction and as he approached the
intersection with Rainier Ave S., he stopped directly behind Unit 02. CALAHAN admits his foot
slipped' off the brake pedal, the car moved forward slowly and struck the rear bumper of Unit 02,

causing no visible scuffing damage but the bumper was displaced slightly.
A WACIC/NCIC/DOL query on CALAHAN returned clear and valid.
Unit 02 was identified as a dark gray in color 2019 Kia Soul bearing WAI CTA6882. Unit 02 had no
visible scuffing damage on the rear bumper, but the bumper appeared misaligned.
Unit 02's driver was identified by his WADL as RAMIREZBARRADES,ANDERSONJOSE (DOB.
01.01,20021 RAMIREZBARRADES matched the photo shown on his WADL. RAMIREZBARRADES was
at a complete stop when he was struck from behind by Unit 01. This was a very slow speed collision.
Unit 01's driver was upset with the driver of Unit 02 after the collision due to the fact Unit 02 allegedly
called a third person and said he was going to get `a lot of money' from Unit 01, and that upset him.
A WACIC/NCIC/DOL query on RAMIREZBARRADES revealed he was clear.
*NEITHER INVOLVED DRIVER HAD INSURANCE ON THEIR RESPECTIVE VEHICLES.
I provided both parties with the case number and advised they would have to work this out civilly as
neither had insurance and I advised them I was not issuing any citations but documenting this
collision as non-reportable only.
