In the event of a strike, Republic Services would activate its “Blue Crew.” The “Blue Crew” consists of an active list, organized by region (West, Central, and East), of drivers in management positions or not covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement from across the country. We would provide staff members from regionally sourced replacements, and they would be onsite within 48 hours, or earlier, depending on when the determination is made that a strike is imminent. 2. As the “Blue Crew” consists of drivers with experience, they already know the collection and material delivery procedures, are familiar with our internal systems, and will rely on the computerized systems within the trucks to follow the collection routes. There would be formal meetings, trainings, and briefings necessary to educate the “Blue Crew” about their routes, including the usual driver meetings and the distribution of route sheets. 3. We propose using our Black River storage yard as one of the temporary Drop-Box Container or staffed packer truck locations for all material streams (i.e., garbage, recycling, and organics). a) Black River storage yard: 501 Monster Rd SW, Renton, WA 98055 b) Continue to locate other feasible, secure locations within the City of Renton, with City of Renton approval c) Identification of these sites would be communicated to those affected customers by robo calls, through our customer service team, and posted on our website 4. In a short-notice disruption, we would pick up residential misses on Saturday, using similar protocol as an Inclement Weather event. For commercial customers, our local drivers in management positions would service the critical accounts, which could include the commercial customers that are picked up five days per week. Once the “Blue Crew” is onsite and briefed, accounts would be serviced. In the event that service did not resume beginning the fourth business day following the implementation of the Labor Disruption, customer credits would be issued. 5. In the event that a disruption could last more than one full Single-family Residential collection cycle, we shall provide Drop-box Containers or staffed packer trucks for Customer use for each affected material stream in approved locations throughout the affected route areas, as well as the collection of reasonable quantities of accumulated materials at no additional charge on the next regular collection cycle for each material.
