Upon my arrival, I observed heavy mechanism to two involved vehicles with airbag deployment as well as one of the involved parties complaining of pain. The Renton Regional Fire Authority (RRFA) responded to the scene for evaluation. While on scene, I collected each of the involved party's driving information and their independent recollection of the events leading up to the collision. The driver of Unit#1, identified by her WADL as Victoria Vadnais, stated that she was the sole occupant of her vehicle and that prior to the collision she was stopped facing north at the intersection of Burnett Ave N and N 4th St. Victoria intended to continue northbound through the intersection. While yielding to westbound traffic, someone in lane 2 of 4 stopped and created a gap in traffic for Victoria to cross. Victoria saw an opportunity and continued through the intersection. As she reached the right turn lane, she collided with Unit 2. Victoria's vehicle sustained severe damage to the front of the vehicle which caused it to become undrivable. Victoria stated she did not sustain and injuries. I then spoke with the driver of Unit 2 who was identified by their WADL as Natalie Benefiel. Natalie said she was the sole occupant of her vehicle and was traveling westbound in about the 650 block of N 4th St. Natalie stated she was in the right turn lane when Unit 1 drove crossed the roadway and struck her driver's side door. Her vehicle sustained severe damage to the driver's side, which caused her airbags to deploy. Natalie said she felt pain to her arm and back. She declined medical transportation, but mentioned she would visit a hospital at a later time. Based on the above statements, I determined that the Driver of Unit#1 (Victoria) is the proximate cause for the cause of collision as she did not grant the right of way to traffic already in the roadway and underway. Victoria violated RCW 46.61.190(2) as every driver of a vehicle approaching an intersecting roadway shall stop where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering the roadway, and after having stopped shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time when such driver is moving across or within the intersection or junction of roadways. Both involved vehicles had to be towed due to extensive damage cause by the collision. An exchange of information was provided to all involved parties. I certify (declare) under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that the foregoing is true and correct. C. Catalan 07/17/2025 Renton PAGE 3 OF 4 REPORT NO.
