25-6188 ACC
On 7/18/2025 1 was working as a uniformed patrol officer and driving a marked patrol vehicle for the
City of Renton. I was dispatched to a report of a two-vehicle collision in the intersection of NE 10th St
and Jefferson Ave NE Renton/King/WA. An involved party was calling to report that there were no
injuries and the vehicles were blocking.
I arrived on scene and located both vehicles, they were not blocking, and both drivers were standing
nearby, they confirmed there were no injuries.
I spoke with the driver of the 2013 Cadillac SRX WA/APJ8568, identified by her WADL as Nahn T
Tran DOB: 1/8/1961. Nahn said that she was stopped for the stop sign facing south to turn east onto
NE 10th St. She said that the Buick was driving east on NE 10th St and failed to signal its left turn
onto northbound Jefferson Ave. She entered the intersection as the Buick started its turn and collided
with the driver side rear quarter panel. There was damage to the front bumper of the Cadillac, it was
drivable.
I then spoke with the driver of the 2005 Buick Rainier, identified by his WADL as James A Nelson
DOB: 6/3/1949. James said that he exited the Safeway parking lot to east on NE 10th St and started
to turn on northbound Jefferson. He said that as he started his turn, he was struck by Unit 1. There
was damage to the driver side rear quarter panel and the vehicle was drivable.
Based on Nahn's admission that she entered the intersection while James was still completing his
turn, I cited Nahn for RCW 46.61.185.1 Failure to Yield Left Turn Motor Vehicle under Sector citation
#5A0563873. This citation should be mailed to Nahn.
I provided both drivers with an exchange of information form and left the scene.
RCW 46.61.185.1 states:
The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road,
or driveway shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which
is within the intersection or so close thereto as to constitute an immediate hazard.
Nothing further.
