This location is located within the City of Renton, WA, the County of King. At the time of this incident, 1 was assigned to uniformed marked patrol in the City of Renton, WA, the County of King. 1 was operating a fully marked Renton Police Chevy Silverado #314, equipped with "POLICE" markings, interior lights, and audible siren. I was wearing my department-issued uniform, including a fully equipped duty belt, exterior ballistic vest with "POLICE" stenciled on the front and back and Renton Police badge affixed to the left breast. I was also wearing my department-issued jumpsuit with "POLICE" patches on both shoulders and across the rear shoulders. It would be immediately obvious to any reasonable person I was a police sergeant. I was assigned as the graveyard patrol sergeant for the north end of the city, 6r20. I arrived on scene at approximately 1654 hours, and met with Officer Ryan Rivera, who advised he was operating his clearly marked and visible Renton Police Patrol Vehicle #315. Officer Rivera traveling eastbound on S. 5th ST and as he approached the stop sign (intersection) of Main Ave S., he was directly behind a white in color Subaru Forrester bearing WA/APS8396 (Unit 02). Officer Rivera advised Unit 02 started to pull forward at the stop sign and he believed the driver, later identified, was going to continue his right turn, southbound, onto Main Ave S. Officer Rivera told me he was looking to the left to clear traffic on Main Ave S., prior to executing a turn, when he realized the driver of Unit 02 stopped abruptly in the roadway. Unit 01's push bars struck the rear driver's side bumper of Unit 02, causing transfer of black material. Unit 01 was identified as a black/white in color Renton Police Vehicle #315, a Chevy Tahoe bearing WA Exempt Plate/ 67612D. Unit 02 was operated by MACAWILE, CHARLITO FORNELOSA (DOB: 03.20.1972). MACAWILE stated he was stopped at the stop sign on S. 5th ST at Main Ave S., and was attempting to make a right turn, southbound, onto Main Ave S. MACAWILE advised he observed a vehicle `driving fast' towards his location so he stopped and was struck from behind by Officer Rivera's police vehicle. MACAWILE's wife was in the vehicle, front passenger seat, at the time of this incident-no injuries were reported. I took photographs of the involved patrol vehicle as well as Unit 02 and uploaded them to this AXON. Further, I completed the damage to City property form via Origami under Incident Report Number: Incident: 1-2025-230. All photos have been uploaded into Axon Evidence. No injuries reported. Both vehicles were removed from the scene without incident, no obvious damage to Officer Rivera's patrol vehicle.
