EG18141 CASE# 25-6696 OF COLLI ION 08/02/25 21:10 OF COLLISION NARRATIVE 25-6696 Unless otherwise stated, the following occurred in the City of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. On 08-02-2025 at approximately 2110 hours I was dispatched to a report of a verbal domestic violence combined with a hit and run collision in the 10800 block of SE Petrovitsky RD. Dispatch advised the reporting party was enroute to the Renton City Hall located at 1055 S Grady Way. Upon arrival at the Renton City Hall, I contacted a silver 2007 Toyota Tacoma bearing Washington license plate C42914B. I provided the license plate to dispatch who ran it through WACIC/NCIC and it returned to Melvina D Lewis DOB: 03-12-1956. There were two people standing outside the truck when I approached. The male identified himself as the reporting party, Douglas Aaron Michael Lewis DOB: 02-13-1983 (verified WADL). The female identified herself as Melvina (verified WADL). Melvina was Douglas's mother. Douglas told me that he was in a verbal argument with his girlfriend (Margarita Mercado DOB: 04-08- 1978) at her house located at an unknown address behind the Fred Meyer located at 17801 108th AVE SE. Douglas left the house and had his mother, Melvina, pick him up in the Fred Meyer parking lot. Margarita followed him in her black Ford Fusion. Douglas got into the passenger seat of Melvina's vehicle and Melvina was driving. Melvina exited the Fred Meyer parking lot out of the north entrance onto eastbound SE Carr RD. Melvina was in lane 2 when Margarita rammed her vehicle into the driver side of Melvina's vehicle from lane 3. Melvina then got into the left-hand turn lane (lane 3) to turn northbound onto 108th AVE SE from SE Carr RD. As she continued through the traffic signal, Margarita positioned her vehicle behind Melvina's. Margarita followed Melvina northbound down Benson DR S. Melvina turned eastbound on S Grady Way and then pulled into the Renton Police Station lower lot off S Grady Way. Margarita stayed behind her until Melvina started to travel up the parking garage ramp to the upper lot and that is when Margarita then stopped following her. Melvina said she was afraid to pull over after Margarita struck her vehicle. Douglas said that Margarita was intoxicated from liquor and had consumed a six pack of Modelo beer between the hours of 1200 and 2000 hour on 08-02-2025. During the travel northbound on Benson DR S, Margarita kept pulling her vehicle up to the side of Melvina's vehicle and was screaming. When I asked Douglas why Margarita was so upset he said that she tries to control him, was intoxicated from liquor, and was upset because he had broken her television before leaving her house. Douglas said nothing physical happened between him and Margarita. They have been in a dating relationship for five years and do not live together. Douglas lives in Seattle. I provided him Domestic Violence resources. I attempted to call Margarita. She answered the phone calling me a "motherfucker" and telling me how much she doesn't like me. I had not introduced myself yet. I introduced myself and she said she was upset that her television was broken. When I tried to ask her further questions, she started swearing at me and hung up. I tried to call her back and she did not answer. Margarita's Department of Licensing address is out of Kent and Douglas did not know her address. I did not have a chance to ask Margarita questions regarding the collision because she hung up and didn't answer the phone when I called back. I requested Renton Front Counter perform a DAPS check for a black Ford Fusion registered to Margarita. They provided four different Washington license plates, two of them being for a Ford Fusion; CGT4355 and CKU9722. I ran CGT4355 through WACIC/NCIC and it returned to a no color listed 2014 Ford Fusion that expires on 06-10-2026 registered to Margarita. I ran CKU9722 through WACIC/NCIC and it returns to a black 2019 Ford Fusion that expired 12-27-2024 registered to Margarita. I do not know which vehicle Margarita was in during the collision and they are both registered to a Kent address. There is a small dent to the driver sidestep runner of Melvina's vehicle. Melvina says that is the damage that Margarita caused. Melvina did not know the estimated value of the step. A google search shows the value could range anywhere from $300 - $1000 or more. Margarita violated RCW 46.52.020 hit and run to an attended vehicle. The RCW states, "(2)(a) The PAGE 3 OF 5 REPORT NO. EG18141 CASE# 25-6696 OF COLLI ION 08/02/25 21:10 OF COLLISION NARRATIVE driver of any vehicle involved in an accident resulting only in damage to a vehicle which is driven or attended by any person or damage to other property must move the vehicle as soon as possible off the roadway. The driver shall remain at the suitable location until he or she has fulfilled the requirements of subsection (3) of this section. Moving the vehicle in no way affects fault for an accident." Margarita ran into Melvina's vehicle and did not attempt to pull over at the scene. Although Melvina was too afraid to pull over until she reached the Renton Police Station, Margarita ceased following Melvina as soon as she pulled into the Renton Police Station. No calls came in from Margarita to 911 reporting a collision. I cited Margarita via mail to her Department of Licensing address for RCW 46.52.020 hit and run to an attended vehicle.
