Grant Funding Source and Expenditures
How do we secure grant funds?
FAA grant fund are secured via the following steps:
1. Define 5 years of capital improvement projects
2. Coordinate with our local FAA office to identify
which projects are eligible for Airport Improvement
Project grants
3. Submit updated 5-year plan annually to the FAA
4. FAA will send out their intentions to fund said
project annually
5. Develop competitive grant applications that
align with the FAA AIP Handbook
6. Actively manage grants through continuous
coordination with the local FAA office and in
accordance with the grant requirements
Additional Source of Grant Funding
The Renton Airport is part of the National Plan of Integrated Airport
Systems (NPIAS) under the Federal Aviation Administration. This allows
the airport eligibility for Federal funding under the Airport Improvement
Program (AIP) over the next 5 years.
