SUBJECT: Parker Annexation—Sufficiency
City staff have been made aware that the King County Assessor's Office has determined
that the Annexation Petition Certification issued for the Parker Annexation may have
been issued in error. The Assessor's Office believes that the required 60%of the
assessed valuation was not met and is therefore insufficient. Additionally, the Assessor's
Office has indicated they will be allowing property owners who signed the annexation
petition to withdraw their names from the petition. The Assessor's Office will be
finalizing their determination over the course of this week and will notify the City by
next Monday, September 24, 2018 on the status of the Petition Certification and
whether the Certification will be invalidated or affirmed. Staff will notify Council of the
final status as soon as possible.
