Door(s) Rear Collision 2025-00007663 Paqe 3 OF 5 Case Number 2025-00007663 Officer Narrative Narrative 25-07663 Unless otherwise noted,the following occurred within the city limits of Renton, county of King, state of Washington. On 09/02/2025, 1 was working as a uniformed police officer for the city of Renton.At approximately 1840 hours, I was dispatched to a blocking motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Hoquiam Ave NE and NE Sunset Blvd. Portions of my involvement in the incident were captured on my department-issued bodycam.Any statements referred to have been paraphrased and summarized. While enroute, dispatch relayed that three involved vehicles were partially blocking the northbound lane on Hoquiam Ave NE. When I arrived on scene, I confirmed there were no injuries to any involved parties. Further, I observed that unit 2's rear bumper had almost completely fallen off; as well as that the front driver's side tire was flat,with the rim stripped from its place and on the ground. I captured photos of the scene and later uploaded them to evidence.com. I spoke with the driver of unit 1 and received the following account of what happened: She was driving westbound on NE Sunset Blvd.As she approached the intersection at Hoquiam Ave NE, she prepared to make a left-hand turn to go southbound.The stoplight was green, indicating she had the right-of-way.As she began to make the turn, she realized that it was much sharper than she was prepared for. She attempted to make a correction, but she was going too fast to make an appropriate one. Instead, an over-correction was made,which resulted in the front of her vehicle striking the rear driver's side of unit 2, as well as the front of unit 3. Next, I received the perspective of unit 2: She was stationary at the stoplight on Hoquiam Ave NE at NE Sunset Blvd.The stoplight was red. Suddenly, she was struck by unit 1. Finally, I received the driver of unit 3's account: This incident occurred in the sCity of Renton,King County,Washington State. !declare underpenalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that the foregoing is true and correct. She observed unit 1 as it began to make its southbound turn onto Hoquiam Ave NE. Suddenly, she was struck by unit 1. Banker's tow arrived on scene and towed unit 2 from the scene. I provided the driver of every vehicle with a copy of my business card (case number inscribed on the back). Based on the involved parties' stories and what I observed on scene, unit 1 was the proximate cause of the collision. Both units 2 and 3 were stationary in the moments leading up to the collision. While unit 1 did have the right-of-way, it appears that excessive speed or failure to negotiate the turn resulted in what occurred on this date.
