61-3.01 EXCAVATION
W Y The first paragraph of Seclian 61-3.01 is hereby deleted and the
following paragraphs substituted.
All trenching and tracing work shall be. accomplished in compli-
ance with the applicable provisions of the "Safety Standards for
Construction Work', State of Washington, Departrxnt of LabN
and Industries,Division of Safety.
The length of trench excavated in advance of the pipe laying shall
be kept to a minimum and in no rase shall it exceed two hundr.^d
(200) legit unless otherwise specifically authorized by the Engi-
neer.
61.3.03 Bedding for all pipe in the project shall he Class B.

Section 61-3.005 is Hereby eleted in its entirety aid the following,

Bedding material for Class B bedding shall be a clean pea gravel
mixture free from organic matter and conforming to the following
gradation when tested in accordance with ASTM-b 012.

61-3.05 BACKFILLING FOR SEWERS AND DRAINS
Backfiiling of the trench shaft follow pipe laying as closely as possible.
All trench excavations shall be backfilled within eight (8) hoiws after
the exeavatior-s except for short sections of trench wMch may remain
open overnight m the end of the pipe being installed.
Initial backfilling shall he performed only after inspection and approv-
al of the installed pipe and bedding.
All backfill materials must be approved by the Ovner before they are
7 placed. Trenches shalt he backfilled with this backfill material to the
_ elevation of the base course in areas to be paved .md to an elevation
equal to the existing grade in other areas.
` 61-3.05 COMP;1CTION OF TRENCH BACKFILL
Add the following.

Add the following.
All joints for manhole sections shall he rubber gasketed.

Section 63-2.09F is hereby deleted and the followinr substituted
therefor.
Type V manhok-s.shall conform to the standard plans and shall be
provided with foundation and bedding and otherwise installed in
the sir,.e manner as the connecting pipes.
The Contractor shall submit working drawings (shop drawings)
showing the fabrication and reinforcing steel details for the
fabrication and reinftmdng stcei Betas for the shop connection
of the manhole riser to the 54-inch or k&-inch pipe berrel.
The exact station locetiun,; of the manhole riser as shown at the
fill ns tn.ry Ix adjusted within a toleranry of plus or minus ( . 1 6
feet in order to accommodate euctoai la}ing conditions of the-59-
Inch c. S-inch pipe.

A. Upon completion, and prior to the use of any project or portions thereof, a
professional engiteer shall complete and sign this form certifying that the
project was constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications, and
major change orders, approved by the Department of Ecology.
S. If a project is being completed in phased construction, a map shall be attached
showing that portion of the project being certified on the date given below.
Each phase of a project must be certified as it is completed. Addi tiona`
certification forms are available from the Department of Ecolugy offices listed
below.

In accordance with RCW 90.48.110 and WAC 173-240-010 through 180
of the Department of Ecology, the plans and specifications for the
subject project have been reviewed and are hereby approved with 'he
following provisions:
1. Construction will comply with the 197; APWA and City of
Renton Standard Specifications.
2, Future plans submitted to the department for approval
shall indicate applicable standards on the drawings.
Upon completion, and prior to the use of the above project or portions
thereof, the attached Completion of Construction Certificate must be
completed by the responsible professional engineer for the project and
returned to this department.
Nothing in this approval shall be construed as satisfying other applic-
able federal, state or local statutes, ordinances or regulations.
