IN PARAGRAPH 4 DELETE: All pipe material sections except PVC Sewer Pipe 9-05.12. 7-17.3(2)H SIDE SEWER CONNECTIONS (SUPPLEMENTAL SECTION) The Contractor shall construct 8, 6 and 4 inch side sewers from the sever Interceptor or lateral to serve the rlub house and the three residences. The minimum grade for the side sewers shall be two percent (2%). The side sever connections to serve each building must be made between the soil pipe and the septic tank. All cost involved in locating the soil pipe and septic tank, for each side sewer connection, shall be included in the bid item price for aide sewer pipe. Side sewer connection shall not start until the 15 inch sewer interceptor and the 8 inch sever lateral have been constructed, tested, flushed, T.V. inspected, manholes channeled, and deemed ready for use by the Engineer. All restoration shal) be completed ro the satisfaction of the City of Renton Parks and Recreation Department. 7-17.3(2)J METRO MANHOLE CONNECTION (SUPPLEMENTAL SECTION) The Contractor shall acquaint himself with and comply with the regulations contained in the permit issued by METRO and also with the regulations contained at the back of the Special Provisions for connection to METRO MHR1O-36. The Contractor shall replace the existing 12 inch stub with a 15 inch stub. All work involved in the compliance with the permit regulations will be incidental to the contract pay item. 7-17.3(2)K PUMPING AND FILLING SEPTIC TANKS (SUPPLEMENTAL SECTION) After all side sewers are constructed, tested and accepted ready for use by the Engineer, each septic tank must be pumped out with the sewage properly disposed of, the septic tank tops and bottoms must be crushed and the septic tank filled with dirt and/or sand. Th( _e shall be no voids in the backfill of each septic tank. Plug each septic tank outlet with a 1 foot section of mortar. All of the work described in this supplemental section including restoration shall be included in the bid item price. 7-17.3(2)L SURFACE CLEANOUTS (SUPPLEMENTAL SECTION) The unit price bid shall be full compensation for all materials, labor and equipment necessary to construct the 8 inch and 6 inch surface cleanouts in accordance with the Sever Standard Detail and restoration of the adjscent areas. The materials shall include, but not be limited to, the wyes, plugs, and lamphole covers. 7-17.3(3) BACKFILLING SEWER TRENCHES (SUPPLEMENTAL SECTION) During construction of the sewer pipe from MR 5 to PH 6, the trench backfill shall be 100%, at the conclusion of each days construction, on all areas within -2- the asphalt pavement. The cost for providing 100% backfill shall be included in the bid item price for 15 Inch sanitary PVC sever pipe. 7-17.3(3)B BANK RUN GRAVEL FOR TRENCH BACKPILL (SUPPLEMENTAL SECTION) Bank run gravel for trench backfill shall consist of aggregate for gravel base, as specified in Section 9-30.7C. 7-17.3(5) 20" DIAMETER ENCASING PIPE (SUPPLEMENTAL SECTION) Where shown on the Plans, the Contractor shall install the PVC pipe in a 20 Inch diameter steel encasing pipe with a minimum 1/4-inch wall thickness. The steel encasing pipe shall be installed by jacking, tunneling or augering or by a combination of these methods. I During jacking, augering, o- tunneling operations, care shall be exercised to prevent caving ahead of the steel encasing pipe which will cause voids outside the pipe. If voids occur, the Contractor shall backpack the voids with sand and pea gravel and fill the voids with a pumped pottland cement grout. If liner pl ,Les are used, they shall be assembled and installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and specificitiona and in accordance w.,th accepted tunneling methods using poling plates or shields of a strength equal to that of the liner plates. The PVC pipe shall be skidded into position inside the casing pipe and blocked into position. The annular space between the carrier pipe and the casing pipe or tunnel liner shall be filled by sluicing or blowing sand or pea gravel into the space unless otherwise specified. Care shall be exercised to insure that the entire space is filled and that the pipe is not disturbed during the placement of the backfill between the pipe and the casing. The Contractor shall remove the carrier pipe and reinstall it if it will not accomodatc the pipe laid to tolerances shown on the Plans. The unit price bid shall be full compensation for all materials, labor and equipment necessary to construct the 20 inch diameter encasing pipe including restoration. It shall be the Contractor's responsibility to notify each property owner when it is necessary to remove such improvements to facilitate the Contractor's ptogress, and to remove those improvements to locations requested by the property owner or to restore them in their original location or as near Griginal condition as possible. Such removal and restoration shall be considered incidental to the project and no further compensation will be made. If the replaced sod in the golf course lawn area does not grow, the Contractor must replace it with new sod the seed mixture of which must be consistent with the existing lawn and subject to approval by the City of Renton Parks and Recreation Department. 1-07.23(1) PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND SAFETY (SUPPLEMENTAL SECTION) The Contractor shall insure ingress aid egress for vehicular access during all phases of construction for emergency vehicles to the Golf Course Club House and all other buildings within the golf course property. 7-17 SANITARi SEWERS 7-17.2 MATERIAL (SUPPLEMENTAL SECTION) 1V PARAGRAPH 1 DELETE: All pipe materials except PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride). The minimum grade for the side sewers shall be two percent (2%). The side sewer connections to serve each building must be made between the soil pipe and the septic tank. All cost involved in locating the soil pipe and septic tank, for each side sewer connection, shall be included in the bid item price for side sewer pipe. Side sewer connection shall not start until the 15 inch sewer interceptor and the 8 inch sewer lateral have been constructed, tested, flushed, T.V. inspected, manholes channeled, and deemed ready for use by the Engineer. All restoration shall be completed to the satisfaction of the City of Renton Parks and Recreation Department. 7-17.3(2).1 METRO MANHOLE CONNECTION (SUPPLEMENTAL SECTION) The Contractor shall acqual-t himself with and comply with the regulations contained in the permit issued by METRO and aljo with the regulations contained at the back of the Special Provisions for connection to METRO MHRIO-36. The Contractor shall replace the existing 12 inch stub with a 15 inch stub. All work involved in the compliance with the permit regulations will be Incidental to the contract pay item. 7-17.3(2)K PITAPING AND FILL.NG SEPTIC TANKS (SUPPLEMENTAL SECTION) After all side sewers are constructed, tested And accepted ready for use by the Engineer, each septic tank must be pumped out with the sewage properly disposed of, the septic tank tops and bottoms must be. crushed and the septic tank filled with dirt and/or sand. There shall be no voids in the backfill of each septic tank. Plug each septic tank outlet with a 1 foot section of mortar. I 7=17.3(3) BACKFILLING SEWER TRENCHES (SUPPLEMENTAL SECTION) During construction of the sewer pipe from MH 5 to MH 6, the trench backfill shall be 100%, et the conclusion of each days construction, on all areas within the asphalt pavement. The cost for providing 100% backfill shall be included in the bid item price for 15 inch Sanitary PVC sewer pipe. 7-17.3(5)_STREAM CROSSING (NEW SECTION) The Creek crossing in Schedule B may be accomplished by either of the following methods at the contractors option; JACKED OR BORED CASING PIPE Where shown on the Plans, the Contractor . hall install the PVC pipe in a 20 inch diameter steel encasing pipe with a minimum 1/4-inch wall thickness. The steel encasing pipe shall be installed by ,jacking, tunneling or augering or by a combination I Of these methods. During ,jacking, sugaring, or tunneling operations, care shall be exercised to prevent caving ahead of the steel encasing pipe which will cause voids outside the pipe. If voids occur, the Contractor shall backpack the voids with sand and pea gravel and fill the voids with a pumped Portland Cement grout. If liner plates are used, they shall be assembled and installed f in accordance with the manufacturer' s instructions and specifications and in accordance with accepted tunneling methods using poling plates or shields of a strength equal to that of the liner plates. The PVC pipe shall be skidded ;ntc position inside the casing pipe and ]locked into position. The annular space between the carrier pipe and the casing pipe or tunnel liner shall be "illed by sluicing or blowing sand or pea gravel into Che space unless otherwise specified. Care shall be exercised to insure that the entire space is filled and that the pipe is not disturbed during the placement of the backfill between the pipe and the casing. I The Contractor shall remove the carrier pipe and reinstall it if It will not accommodate the pipe laid to tolerances shcwr on the Plans. The unit price bid shall be full cc ,,ensation for all materiais, labor and equipment necessary to construct the 20 inch diameter encasing pipe including restoration. The carrier pipe, through the encasing pipe, shall be paid under a separate bid item. STREAM DIVERSION The contractor shall provide a 48 inch culvert pipe of sufficient length to carry `he creek past the area of work. The culvert pipe shall be placed in the existing creek bed and an impervi is dam shall be constructed around the up stream end, diverting the creek into the culvert. Two filter check dams consisting of pea-gravel filled burlap bags shall be constructed to filter silt and debris from the creek. One check da.n shall be located ground the culvert pipe down stream of the sewer trencn, and the other shall be located 10 to 20 feet down stream of the culvert end. These check dams shall be cleaned of all accumulation of dcoris on a daily basis during the construction of the sewer trench, and shall not be removed until after the bank restoration is completed and the diversion culvert is removed. The stream bed in the trench line shall be backfilled with wished rock of a random size range of 1/2 to 3 inch diameter. The stream bank shall be covered with loose medium rip rap rock to a minimum thickness of 12 inches. After all rock is placed and the diversion culvert is removed plant the area with the following; VACCINIUM VITIS IDAEA (Cowberry, Linconberry) Plant With one gallon size containers in a grid 30 inches on centers covering the rip raped area from low water �.ne to the top of the bank. IRIS SIBIRICA ( Siberian Iris) Plant in groups of rhizomes In the center of each 30 inch grid of Vaccinium Vitis Idaea. All labor and materials required for the stream crossing except for the 18 inch carrier pipe and select trench back£ill shall be included in the unit price -Creek Crossing with bored steel casing pipe or stream diversion", per Lump Sum, and no additional pavement shell be made. 8-01 ROAJ SIDE _EDING 8-01 .2 MATERIAL (PARTIAL REPLACEMENT SECTION) Seed shall conform to the following: Washington State Certified Turf Grass Seed with 70% Merlon Bluegrass, and 30% Red Fescue. Percentage to be by nuality and not weight of seed. 8-01.3(1)A CULTIVATION (SUPPLEMENTAL SECTION) The areas to be seeded shall be graded and smoothed to match the undisturbed areas with no breaks or ridges. All stones over 1/2 inch in diameter and all roots, clods, weeds, or other extraneous material shall be removed prior to application of seed. 8-C1.3(9) PROTECTION AND CARE OF SEEDED AREAS (REPLACEMENT SECTION) After all disturbed areas have been cleaned and restored to the satisfaction of the Engineer, and all seeding has been completed the Parks Department shall assume the responsibility for watering, fertilizing, and mowing the seeded areas.
