I John Weed a Bush, Road 6 Hitchings, Inc. 1 2009 Minor Avenue East Seattle, WA 98102 I SUBJECT: ALLPAB CONTAINER, INC. I Dear Mr. Weed: You stated in your letter of January 11, 1991, "It is comtion practice if a stub enters a street system's manhole in the direction of an adjacent property the stub for all purposes is to serve that property". This statement is typically correct for 6" stubs, however, it does not apply in this case. When the City installed the 12" collector sewer in SW 27th Street, it also provided 8" stubs on certain manholes to provide future infill sanitary sewer mains as the area developed. The stubs were not extended to the property line in order to allow flexibilaty to future developments in regards to the slope of the infill sewer mains. In your letter you state . it was assumed that this stub I extended to the property line of Allpak's site". It is the responsibility of the developer's engineer to thoroughly research A. Iuilt drawings and to field verify the location of all utilities during the design process and nrt to make assumptions. The City recommends that your design utilize the existing 8" stub in the Mi in SW 27th Street and extend it with a private 8" s4desewer to the building with a cleanout at the building as well as at all horizontal bends. The proposed MH 01 shown on the plans would not be required. Please submit a shop drawing showing your proposed sidesewer connection to Arneta Henninger for her review and approval. Ms.Arnetof Re Henninger City of Renton 11- 200 Mill Avenue South Renton,WA 98055 RE: Allpak Container,Inc. Sanitary Service Connection BRH Job No.90135 Dear Ms.Henninger: The sanitary sewer service to the Allpak site is to he installed and we are requesting the City's assistance in directing and processing this task. An existing northerly stub was located in the manhole stationed 16+98,mere or less, 15 feet left of the centerline of Southwest 27th Street at the time the survey was performed for the site. It is common practice that if a stub enters a street system's manhole in the direction of an adjacent property the stub for all purposes is to serve that property. There- fore,it was assumed that this stub extended to the property line of Allpak's site. When the contractor attempted to make the connect:.n to this stub it was found that the stub only extended 2 feet outside of the mentioned manhole. We have reviewed the City's as-built drawing and they do not show a 2 foot stub or one that extends to the property line. r_ With this brief history could you help us in resolving this issue of providing the sanitary sewer service to Allpak's site. In order to complete this work item and keep .he project moving ahead much cooperation is needed among all parties. Please get back to us as soca as you can with the City's direction and requirements for the installation of this addi- tional sanitary sewer. Sincerely, Weed. ' John 1.
