CITY OF RENTON LAKE WASHINGTON LIFT STATION SCOPE OF TASKS-REM NO.1 DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED WORK PURPOSE The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate and upgrade the mechanical.electrical.telemetry, sod wet- well containment systems of the Lake Washington Lift Station. The current lift station has corroded i piping and possesses a history of electrical system failures. t I Task 1 -Collect Survey Information Ol,ecri e: To collect pertinent site-specific infonnalion in order to identify i'contour intervals, site utilities, all components of the existing lift station, neighboring property lines, and easements. This information will be used to evaluate the condition of the current design and aid in determining the most appropriate layout for rehabilitation of the lift station. i Approa,h 1. Perform topographic survey of project site to obtain contour elevations, location of existing surfacing improvements, and vegetation. Topographic survey is to encompass an area incmrding a 100' radius from the existing lift station and 25 feet on either side of the force main alignment from the lift station to the Metm sewer connection. This survey is to be performer)by a land-based survey crew. 2. Provide horizontal and vertical control information necessary for the consmiction of the permanent installation. This control information does not includt survey information for temporary markings during construction. i 3. Determine location of property lines acid existing casements by reviewing City and County records, tax assessor's records,as-built drawings, and other available documentation. Locate P' derground uldities by wnucting One-Call service in order to have the knot .y companies identify their services in the area. Recover this information wrought site visits, and confirm any inconsistencies between this information and as-built records. 4. Identify the current water levels in the wet well and Lake Washington. Identify the high-water level and low-water level of Lake Washington. 5. Identify critical elevations of the Rushing station at a separate site. Mte.minc pipe inven elevations of intake, discharge and top of standpipe. 1 x5`i\ar0\i.W{a.aVr {: i PR , 1 q { lroduct. Computer-generated database file and written survey record of field notes. Tbs information is to reflect all current site conditions within the boundaries specified above. ''• Task 2-Study of Collection System and Flushing Station Flow rates Ob/ecave: To determine the current and ultimate inflow into the collection system through residences and from the flushing station. I Mprooc'h: I. Review properties adjoining this collection system to determine number of hook- ups and volume of flow input at the current time and at saturation development. 2. Perform field tests to determine the rate and volume of flow input tram the flushing station to the collection system. These tests will be done by measuring drawdown in the wet well of the flushing station with intake valve closed, and by determining the time for a tracer to travel from the flushing station to the lift station. 3. Analyze oPeration of flushing station in sequence with the lift station to determine if flow rate into the collection system is adequate to transport sec•age to the lift station and transport it from the lift station into the Metro sewer. Compare flow - rates and volumes to determine if the entire collection system is being flushed during the current time irtervals of flushing. - Product Preliminary analysis of collection system of flushing efficiency. The current lift station has co piping and possess es a history of electrical system failures rroded. Task 1 -Collect Survey Information Objective: To collect cenimni site-specific information in order to identify, I'contour intervals, site utilities, all components of the existing lift station, neighboring property lines, and easements. This information will be used to evaluate the condition of the current design and.id in determining the most appropriate layout for rehabilitation of the lift station. ApPh- L Perform topographic rvey of project si,e to obtain conmur elevations, location Of existing surfacing improvements, and vegetation. Topographic survey is m encompass an area including a 100' mriva from the existing lift station and 25 feet on either side of the fork main alignment from the lift station to Ue Metro sewer contcectien. This survev is to be performed by a land-based survey crew. 2. Provide horizontal and vertical control information necessary, for the construction of the P=mom installation. This control information does not include survey information for temporary markings during cc armcuvn 3. Determine location of property tines and existing easements by reviewing City {and County records, tax assessor's records,as-built drawings, and other available documentation. Locate all underground utilities by contacting Ono-caU service in order to have the Imowa utility companies identify their services in the area Recover this information through site visits, and confirm any inconsistencies between airs Irif i mation and as-built records. 4. Identify the current water levels in the wet well and Late Washington. Identify the high water level and low-water level of Lake Washington. 5. Review properties adjobung this colleeuon system to determine number of hook- . ups and volume of now input at the current time and at saturation development. 2. Perform field tests to detemtine the rate and volume of now input from the rushing station to the ellto the system drawdo . These tests will be done by measuring u w'n in the wet well off the flushing station with intake valve closed, and by determining the time for a tracer to have Cation from the flushing station to the lift station. 3. Analyze operation of flushing station in sequence with tie lift station to determinc if flow rate inm the collection system is adequate to transport sewage to the lift Starlet and transport it from the lift station into the Metm xwcr. Compare flow rates and volumes to determine if the enure collection system is being flushed duhng the current time inter.als of flushing. Chnstensen Project Manager March, 1992 { Lake Washington No. 2 Lift Station Replacement Page 2 of 5 LAKE WASHINGTON NO. 2 LIFT STATION REPLACEMENT PROJECT OBJECTIVE The purpose of this project is to prepare plans, specifications and an engineers estimate for the replacement of the existing Lake Washington No. 2 Lift Station located at the north and of the private road known as Kennydale Beach Park Road. See attached vicinity and location maps. I. PROJECT BACKGROUND: This lift station was installed in 1972 as part of LID 270 which provided sanitary sewer service to the single family homes that are located west of the railroad tracks in the Kennydale area. The oth,.r components of this system included an 8" forcemain which lies within Lake Washirgton and the Lake Washington Cush station. it. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A. Existing Conditions: The existing station consists of a fiberglass enclosed, wet well mounted, duplex lift station with a duplex vacuum prming system. In addition to the fact that the station is reaching its useful life, there exists current safety and reliability problems with the station which include: o Severe corrosion to the check valve, shut off valve. entrance ladder and other apparatus, due to their location within the existing wet well. o Overheating and severe deterioration of the electrical wiring. B. 3cope of Work: The project includes selection of the type of station to be used, preparation of the PS & E, construction of the new lift station, and landscape enhancement around the proposed facility. This scope of work assumes that the City will be able to utilize the existing wet well and forcemain, thereby eliminating the need for any major excavation. C. Design Considerations: 11 Perform a pump station Selection Study to ensure that „ie type f station selected best meets the criterion established for this location. ♦1 f r' a Lake Washington No. 2 Lift Station Replacement Page 3 of 5 2) Perform a t000graphical survey of the area to be utilized for preliminary design alternatives as well as for ,he )reparation of .. * the selected alternative in final design. r 31 Develop design criteria for the new lift star.on. 41 Coordinate preliminary and final design with maintenance services to ensure that all maintenance and operation requirements are met. 51 Include an evaluation of the existing privid aadway as to potential damage that may result from construction activities and incorporate those findings in the final design. I x ..j D. Right-of-WaY: J It is not anticipated that new right-of-v aY or additional easement area will be required. E, Environmental Documents: Due to ttie scope of this project being a repair and replacement of mechanical and electrical components . rhin the existing lift station, l it is anticipated that this project will be categorically exempt from SEPA as well as exempt from a substantial development permit f F. Permits: I r Permits required for this project include: 1, 11 Department of Ecology Plan and Spec Approval 21 City of Renton Electrical Permit 31 City of Renton Public Works Consrruction Ferm+t G.
