This Evaluation certificate is the positive result of the applied voluntary, modular approach, as agreed within WELMEC (European Cooperation in Legal Metrology) for a component of a measuring instrument, according to annex MI-005 (Measuring systems for the continuous and dynamic measurement of quantities of liquids other than water) of the directive 2004/22/EC (MID). The complete measuring instrument must be covered by an EC-type examination certificate. This Evaluation certificate confirms that the involved equipment complies with the applicable essential requirements of the European directive 2004/22/EC (MID). This Evaluation certificate describes an electromagnetic meter. Basically consisting of a cylindrical piece of piping with 2 magnetic spools and 2 electrodes and a Signal Converter, which is used to drive the magnetic spools and convert the electrode voltage to a flow rate. This revision 3 is issued due to: - Updated electronic revision numbers; - Updated drawings in the documentation folder; 1.1 Essential Parts 1.1.1 Measurement Sensor - Cylindrical pipe The cylindrical pipe is internally covered with an insulating liner. Through the liner the 2 electrodes are in contact with the liquid. Outside the pipe the 2 magnetic coils are mounted. Also, see the Documentation Folder belonging to this Evaluation certificate for details about the liner and the process connection of the meter. 1.1.2 Signal Converter 1.1.2.1 Essential parts of the Signal Converter - Back plane Used for all internal connections inside the Signal Converter. - Sensor board • Driving the magnetic coils inside the measurement sensor, and checks the current required for the coils. • Measures the induced voltage and processes the induced voltage to flow speed, flow rate, etc. Also validates the voltage sensing circuitry. • Communicates with the other modules through the internal data-bus (GDC-bus). - Display module with optical keys • Displays all measurement values. The values presented and the format is programmable. The settings are secured with the "Weights and Measure" (W&M) jumper. • Read the 4 optical keys. These keys can be used for: paging through the 3 measurement pages, setting and changing of parameter via a menu system. _C Description Number TC7161 Revision 3 Project number 9200599 Page 2 of 4 • GDC master The GDC master controls all data traffic over the GDC-bus. If the master fails, measurements are not possible. All data communication over the GDC-bus is protected through CRC16 checksums. • GDC-bus port Used for the Weights and Measures jumper. This locks all weights and measures parameters against changing. - Power supply Available are: • 100 - 230 VAC, 50/60 Hz • 12 - 24VDC • 24 V AC/DC - Output boards The output board(s) installed determines the possible outputs available. Possible are: • Basic 10 Module (IFC300F type CG300xx100) This board has the following outputs: Current Output including digital Hart® protocol, Status output or Control input, Status output and single channel pulse output. • EXI 10 Module (IFC300F type CG300xxAB0) This module has a basic layout. Depending on the required functionality, certain components are placed on the board. Possible are: ■ A= 2: Current output (active) with Hart® protocol and pulse output (passive) ■ A= 3: Current output (passive)with Hart® protocol and pulse output (passive) ■ B =2: Current output (passive) and pulse output(passive)/Control input • Modular 10 (IFC300F type CG300xx4AB) This is a modular 10 board, providing: ■ Current output(active) with Hart® protocol and a pulse output (active). ■ 2 places for modules (indicated with A and B) for extra outputs: A, B =8: No module placed. A, B =C: Pulse output(active) or Current Output (active) for each module Remarks: The Hart® protocol is superimposed on the DC current signal and enables the meter to communicate with other equipment. If pulses are used for the transmission of the measured volume to other equipment, the use of two pulse channels (also called double pulses) is mandatory. Both pulse channels must be shifted in phase. 1.1.2.2 Essential shapes of the Signal Converter - Housing The housing of the Signal Converter consists of: • Metallic housing (compact and remote version). Optionally the housing is explosion proof. • Plastic housing for wall mounting (only remote version possible). _ MI Description Number TC7161 Revision 3 Project number 9200599 Page 3 of 4 1.2 Essential Characteristics - Measurement sensor • Characteristics stated on page 1 of this Evaluation certificate. • Characteristics in the next table: Meter size DN15111 DN151" DN25 DN50 DN80 Qmax [m3/h] 5,4 5,4 20 50 200 Qmin [m3/h] 0,27 0,15 1 2,5 10 MMQ [m3] 0,002 0,002 0,2 0,5 2 Accuracy Class 0.5 0.3 0.3 0.3 0.3 Meter size DN100 DN150 DN250 DN500 Qmax [m3/h] 312,5 500 2000 7875 Qmin [m3/h] 15,6 25 100 787,5 MMQ [m3] 2 5 20 100 Accuracy Class 0.3 0.3 0.3 0.3 Maximum Pressure : 16 bar(g) • All sensors can be used bi-directional. • Electronic revision number The electronic revision number is used to lay down the software version and the hardware of the instrument. If either changes, the number is updated. ■ Approved electronic revision numbers: 3.2.4—; 3.2.6_and 3.2.7_ The electronic revision number is stored under menu items B3.6 and C5.1.6. See the manual in how to access the parameters. ■ Software specification The first approved version of the instrument didn't have an electronic revision number. The approved software of this version is identified as: • Main software: 2.2.1. Menu items B3.3 and C5.1.5 • User interface: 3.1.0. Menu item B3.4 and C5.2.5 See the manual in how to access the parameters. - The signal converter is either directly mounted on the measurement sensor(compact version) or is mounted separately from the measurement sensor (remote version) - The measurement sensor and the signal converter form a matched set.The exact physical properties of the measurement sensor are pre programmed into the signal converter. - Working principle The magnetic field, generated through the 2 magnetic coils, induces a voltage across the flowing (conductive) liquid (Faraday's law for conductors moving through a magnetic field). This induced voltage is measured with the 2 electrodes and is directly proportional to the flow speed. By taking into account the pipe dimensions the flow rate can be calculated and displayed and outputted. By integrating overtime the total measured volume can be calculated and displayed. The validity of the program and the parameters is continuously checked. If these checks fail an alarm is generated.
